Strategically located near many of Cyprus’ top attractions, the UNESCO-listed city of Paphos makes the ideal base from which to explore the idyllic island, but with just 3 days to take in the sights, you’ll need to plan ahead to make the most of your time.
Day 1: Discover old and new Paphos
Kick off your explorations with a hop-on hop-off bus tour of Paphos, taking time to visit the famous Tombs of the Kings and the seafront Paphos Archaeological site, where you can admire the dazzling Roman mosaics in the House of Dionysos and climb the steps of the ancient amphitheater. Be sure to take in the views from Fabrica Hill and pay your respects at St Paul’s Pillar, before heading into the modern center, where you can spend the afternoon browsing the Paphos Archaeological Museum and visiting landmarks like the Town Hall, then enjoy a sunset stroll around the picturesque medieval harbor.
Day 2: Take a day trip
There’s not enough to time to see everything that Cyprus has to offer in just 3 days, so pick a day trip that best suits your interests. You could take a wine tasting, villages and ancient sites day trip, stopping at the Cyprus Wine Museum in Erimi and sampling Cypriot dessert wine Commandaria in the wine-making village of Omodos, or visit the show-stopping Kykkos Monastery in the Troodos Mountains. Alternatively, head further afield and take in the highlights of Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus with a tour of Salamis and Famagusta, or enjoy the best of both sides with a trip to the divided capital of Nicosia.
Day 3: Hit the beach
Paphos has access to more than 50 km of sandy coastline so whether you want to try your hand at water sports at the local beach, venture north to the blue flag beaches of Coral Bay or sip cocktails at Limassol’s lively beach bars, there’s something for all tastes. Alternatively, a top spot for couples is the romantic Adonis Baths or if you’re traveling with kids in tow you might choose one of the many water parks like the Aphrodite Water Park in Paphos or the WaterWorld Waterpark in Ayia Napa.
