The Basics

Forty of the palace’s 1,441 rooms are open to the public, including the private apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth (Sisi), as well as the exquisite 18th-century rooms of Maria-Theresa—the only female ruler of the Habsburg dynasty. The vast palace gardens are also a must-see, with a spectacular palm house made from iron and glass, a hedge maze, and a labyrinth. Visit on a skip-the-line tour to beat the crowds and benefit from the knowledge of an expert guide, or opt for a private tour for a more personalized experience. For an evening of culture and music, attend a live concert in the Schönbrunn Palace Orangery and listen to famous works by Mozart and Strauss. Or, get an overview of the city and the palace on a Vienna city tour, stopping at other highlights such as the Vienna Opera House, the Danube River, and the Kunsthistorisches Museum.

Skip-the-line Schonbrunn Palace Rooms & Gardens Private Tour
We booked the 3.5 hour skip the line Schonbrunn Palace Rooms tour. Our guide was Ulrike. She was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all our questions while pointing out all the important facts/pieces in each of the 40 rooms we toured! It was great to skip the line to enter the palace, which was quite full during our visit.

Schönbrunn Palace Concert in Vienna
The orchestra was simply magical and the opera rich with expression. The entrances were as if every member was playing as one. The music sparkled as a crystal glass, clear in tone and resonance. The Soprano and tenor played off each other as each could anticipate the other’s responses. It was a magnificent performance!

Vienna: Schönbrunn Skip the Line Palace Tour and Gardens
We were thrilled to have a private guide through the palace. Ute was as great. She answered our questions and was so informative and painted a picture of the family background and their lives at the palace. The Christmas market at the front of the palace was a nice spot as well.

Great guide and concise description of every room. There was more to just simply giving a historical background of the place. Story telling of additional trivia made the tour interesting.
