Boasting more than 10 wineries and unique restaurants, the Kumeu Wine Trail makes for a great half or full day of gourmet indulgence among a beautiful vineyard setting. Your guide can provide recommendations on where to go based on your personal preferences. Move at your own pace to visit as many wineries as possible, or linger at your favorites.
Pickup at your Auckland accommodation can be arranged at the time of your choice, with a recommended midmorning start to maximize your day. Meet your driver and guide, and travel in a private vehicle that can accommodate groups of up to 11.
Kerr Farm is a great place to start, offering private, educational tasting sessions in a charming farmhouse setting, while the Kumeu River winery is known for producing excellent chardonnay and pinot gris. Coopers Creek makes a great midday stop for another tasting in an indoor/outdoor shed accompanied by small tapas-style plates prepared with local, seasonal ingredients. Another great lunch option is the Provenance Eatery and Store, providing a truly farm-fresh dining experience thanks to an on-site butchery, vegetable garden, and beehives (all tastings and food at own expense). The trail abounds with other options including Soljans Estate, Matua Valley, and Westbrook Estate.
Once you’ve had your fill of fantastic wine and food, relax on the return ride to Auckland or another preferred drop-off point.
