Full-day trip to the St Emilion wine region in Bordeaux
Enjoy wine tasting sessions in Saint Emilion or Pomerol chateaux
Explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed village of Saint Emillion on a 45-minute, guided walking tour
Depart from Bordeaux in a climate-controlled coach and travel north to two wine-producing regions — Saint-Emilion and the Pomerol. The latter is located within the Libournais area. Near Saint-Emilion, you’ll visit a chateau — the French word for ‘castle’ — for a guided wine tasting. Find out how factors like soil and climate combine to give wine grapes distinct characteristics, and how those contribute to the flavor of the wine. Learn what grapes grow best in this area and create Bordeaux’s famous wines. Next, make your way into the town of Saint-Emilion itself, where you’ll get to explore this exceptional UNESCO World Heritage Site during a 45-minute walking tour. After that, enjoy some free time to see the town on your own, do some shopping and get some lunch (own expense). The last stop of your tour is a wine estate in the Pomerol. Sample more of the wines during a wine tasting in a Grand Cru Classé chateau. Learn more about the detailed process of making wine during a tour of the wine cellars and vat house before climbing back into the coach and heading back to Bordeaux.
Our tour guide, Hugo, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the region and wine. The three wineries we visited were ok. The last winery we visited was crowded because 3 different tours converged on this winery at the end of the day and the winery’s guide was very rude and disrespectful. He needs to find another professional that does not involve dealing with the public. I probably would have rated this tour higher if not for this guy.
We are not novices at wine excursions. We did a wine tour in the champagne region in 2009, Maddox wine tour in 2010 and one to the Napa Valley in recent years. Karin, our guide was easy to understand and assisted with giving thorough explanations about the wine making processes. He was attentive to the clients needs and after getting a feel for what we wanted to do for lunch, made reservations for us at a fantastic place. Would recommend this tour.
A great opportunity to understand the different regions and classifications of French wine. Get to taste some of the best and different vintages. Family owned wineries. A special chance to understand their world. An informative tour with generous tastings.
A great trip to get to understand different terms in French wine and taste the different levels of wine! J our guide was knowledgable and articulate. The bus was a bit small for the big people we have become. Great views and wine tasting memories.
Oh, what a lovely day. Lea was so fun and seems to know everything! The chateaux we visited were warm and gracious and the little place of Saint Emilion was charming. Oh and the wine everywhere was superb!
