Make your way to Boston Common, where this tour begins at the corner of Park Street and Tremont Street. Set out on a course that links Boston's historic landmarks, and stop at each site for roughly 4 or 5 minutes to catch your breath and learn about local history.

See the shiny dome of the Massachusetts State House, and find out who’s buried in the Granary Burying Ground, a Colonial site that’s hemmed in by modern buildings. Continue to King’s Chapel, and the Old South Meeting House, where rabble-rousing speakers helped incite the Boston Tea Party. Take in the Old State House, the Boston Massacre Site, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, then keep up the pace as you run into Boston’s North End neighborhood.

Visit Paul Revere’s historic house and the Old North Church, where signal lanterns hung as Revere rode to warn American troops of an impending British attack. Pass Copp’s Hill Burying Ground, then cross into Charlestown, where you’ll see the historic USS Constitution, or ‘Old Ironsides,’ and the Bunker Hill Monument, which has panoramic views of the Boston waterfront.

At the end of the run, cool off with a drink, pick up a souvenir shirt, then return to downtown Boston by ferry, taxi, or public transport.
