A day in Luxor

It was a great experience to undertake a tour with a guide (Mohammed) who is passionate to pass on the history of Luxor. Valley of Kings, Hatshepsut tomb and Karnak were amazing, however the added extras of lunch overlooking the Nile and a river crossing will leave a lasting impression. Would recommend to all.

I wish that I could have enjoyed more time in Luxor, it was spectacular. This tour company is excellent. As a single woman traveling solo in the Middle East, I choose my tours carefully. On this tour, every step of the way I was greeted by a friendly English speaking driver, who was on time and helped me to the next step. It was a very easy transition from the hotel to the airport to the driver on the other side. I felt very safe, and comfortable throughout. The guide Ragab El Motgalye, was personable and extremely knowledgeable. He was working on the excavations in the Valley of the Kings and knows everything about the area. The conversations about everyday life in Egypt were also fascinating. Luxor Tours is the company, and I would definitely book them again - I plan returning to stay for a few more days next time because there was much left undiscovered with only one day. I can not say enough about this excellent experience! Highly recommended.

Tour Valley of the Kings and Queens and Hatshepsut Temple | Mar 2020
Khaled did an amazing job explaining the history of ancient Egypt and showing us all the great spots. He was so knowledgeable and we were thoroughly impressed. Definitely recommend seeing Queen Nefertiti tomb as the colours where outstanding which was 1400 Egyptian pounds per person and we also went to see king tuts tomb which was still good but a lot smaller as his reign was for a small time however his tomb was very cool to see especially as his mummified body is still there! To see king tuts tomb was an additional 300 Egyptian pounds per person but again I think it was worth seeing. Very amazing experience and would recommend this to everyone and to specifically as for the tour guide Khaled. He was amazing and also very helpful with taking photos of my partner and I. Thank you Khaled for everything 😊

A Must Do in Luxor

Full-Day Luxor Highlights East and West Banks | Mar 2020
This was the best tour I had on my 10-day solo vacation in Egypt. The tour guide Khalid Eltayeb was professional and knowledgeable. He spoke excellent English. Khalid suggested that we visit the Temple of Karnak first in order to avoid the crowds later at the Valley of the Kings which turned out to be a great suggestion. Being a solo traveler, Khalid was kind to take many pictures of me while visiting the various sites. The driver Hassan was always ready and on time to transfer us to the next site. At the end of the tour, I requested that we go to downtown to do some shopping which was accommodated. I can’t recommend to this tour enough especially if you are able to request Khalid as your tour guide in advance. Again, a must do in Luxor. Well done.

Full-Day Luxor Highlights East and West Banks | Feb 2020
We ended up having 2 different tour guides on this trip and even though both had completely different styles they were both very knowledgeable on all the sites and history and very accommodating to everything we needed along the way. We saw so many incredible things on this full day tour. It was a lot but an easy way to see a lot if you don't have much time in Luxor. Our balloon ride ended a little late but they waited for us and made sure everything worked out with the timing so we didn't miss anything. We had an excellent authentic lunch as well. Would highly recommend

8 Hour Tour to Nefertari's Tomb, King Tut's Tomb, Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut Temple, and Karnak Temples | Jan 2020
We went on this tour in October 2019 and while the day was busy, it was totally worth it to see everything! Nefertaris tomb was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Our guide explained each site well, gave us plenty of time at each, and gave us enough freedom to explore on our own. A lot of the tours don’t include the queens valley or nefertaris tomb, but it is SO worth the admission for the beautiful intact artwork. Our guide also brought us to see some alabaster vase making and paper making as well as offered an opportunity for a Nile boat ride and an excellent lunch.

The Best of Luxor in 2 Days from Luxor | Dec 2019
This is great tour and Khalid made it an outstanding one! We loved seeing the Valley of the Kings, Karnak temple, and Luxor temple! So much to see in a short time and a lot of information to process. For us, these are the main things to see while in Luxor - all are highly recommended. It is truly amazing that there are still a lot of new finds being made. Since this is a two day tour and you will have the same guide for both days, make sure that you ask for a reputable tour guide. We didn't, but were fortunate to get Khalid - he was fun and interesting and truly loves his job.

Full-Day Luxor Highlights East and West Banks | Nov 2019
The reality is Luxor is huge and spectacular. It really can’t be seen adequately in one day. That being said, we sure tried! Our guide Achmed (sp?) and the Driver Mohammad were remarkable. Everything was on time and the information was incredibly detailed. This tour lasted close to 10-hours and was quite thorough. Achmed was patient and we didn’t feel rushed. As referenced above, there is soooo much to see 2-3 days would be better. On a personal note, late in the day my wife indicated a desire to take a sunrise balloon ride the next day (our last in Egypt). I’m not sure how he pulled it off on such short notice but Achmed got it all arranged AND texted me the next day to see how it all went. Quite remarkable. Above and beyond and sincerely appreciated.

Great Tour Covering the Highlights of Luxor

Full-Day Luxor Highlights East and West Banks | Nov 2019
This tour of Luxor was very educational and interesting. My tour guide, Khalid, and the driver were both great. The pick up and drop off were on time. Khalid was very knowledgeable about the history of these temples and burial sites. He made the information interesting and was easy to understand. I got to see all of the major highlights of Luxor in one tour. I did this as a solo tour so they were able to adapt the schedule of the day to my preferences. Because we started with the East Bank, where I was picked up, I got to see Luxor temple with only 2 or 3 others there. By the time we got to the West bank to see Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut there were more people there, but we missed the large crowds. It was also probably because of the time of year. These sites were amazing and definitely worth seeing. I chose not to pay extra to go into the tomb of King Tut in Valley of the Kings but mainly on recommendation from tour guide and because I had seen the treasures from this tomb already at the Egyptian Museum. I know they still have one of his sarcophagus and his mummy in his tomb so if you really want to see that then you should pay extra to do so. The three rooms that come with the regular ticket were sufficient for me. Be aware of guards at each of these sites who will offer try to get you to let them take a picture of you or show you a special spot for extra tip. They approach you even if you are with a tour guide although tour guides are not allowed in some of the spots, such as the rooms in the Valley of the Kings. Just say no thanks. The lunch that came with this tour was delicious. There was an additional stop to a alabaster factory since the region is known for this. Definitely bargain if you plan to buy something. They start off very high but will go to less than half. Overall, a great tour and a must do if you are staying in Luxor.

Amazing First Full Day in Egypt - Luxor

star-5bcurry7895
Full-Day Luxor Highlights East and West Banks | Oct 2019
My wife and I visited Egypt in October 2019. We had a LONG trip from Chicagoland, including three flights including a connection from Cairo to Luxor (we started in Luxor). After getting to our room (at 12:30AM), unpacking and preparing for our excursion, we finally made it to bed at 1:30AM the same day. Our 8AM meet time came quick, and we met Nagla in the lobby of our hotel and departed for the adventure. The day, from start to end, WAS RIVETING! We had the opportunity to see and experience so many temples, tombs and history that neither my wife/I felt tired at all - despite little sleep the night before. The sights and experience were amazing. Each part of the overall excursion had enough similarities to have a common thread of connection yet different enough to be excited from location to location and hold your interest. Nagla handed us with expert skill, always making us feel time was never an issue yet always getting us through everything and where we needed to be on-time. She spoke perfect english and we didn't encounter a question she couldn't address in some context - and we asked a LOT of questions. She was disarming, engaging and provided a level of comfort that made you feel at ease, allowed you to relax so you could enjoy and did it all with a level of knowledge an expertise that made our minds spin! Lastly, she could read her audience. She always provided information and stories for each site, but could always add more/less depending on level of interest or desire to focus on other items. Truly a pro. With the Egyptian wonders as the backdrop and Nagla navigating you through the relevance, stories and history, once of the best experiences we have had on a vacation. MUST DO!

Private Guided Tour to Valley of the Kings | Oct 2019
My husband and I rarely do guided tours. We always prefer to explore on our own. But logistics can be tricky and guidebooks for Egypt tend to have gaps. Ragab was the perfect guide for us! He picked us up early, took us to the sites we wanted to see, gave us tips on interesting elements to keep an eye out for, let us explore and answered any questions we had. I would recommend this tour to anyone, but especially those who might be thinking about going it alone. Take the tour, enjoy the ride, still get to do exactly what you want! Ragab was fantastic and really took great care of us!

Private Full Day Tour to Luxor from Cairo with Flight | Jul 2019
I have traveled to more than 30 countries and have been on a number of Viator tours and they have all been excellent. This tour is extremely pricey, so I believe there is an expectation for certain things. So here are my points: 1. When the driver came to my hotel at 3AM in the morning for the early flight to Luxor, he didn't have a sign indicating what tour company he was with. The car was a piece of junk, banged up on the outside, clean but old in the inside. However, the wheel was rattling, there were no shocks on the car, so every bump felt like a speed bump going 60 miles an hour. The driver spoke absolutely no English so when I was asking where we were since Cairo at night can be scary, he could not even answer me. A number of times on the road, I thought we were going to have crashes. I was praying the whole ride. 2. I contacted Ragab at the tour company, who was very understanding and was easy to contact. Thank goodness he corrected this situation on the return with a nice clean air conditioned van and a lovely driver. They got points back for that and I appreciated Ragab addressing my concern. 3. Tour Guide Khalid - Khalid was very nice. He was an extremely knowledgeable Egyptologist. However, and I don't say this to be mean or anything but I have to tell the truth.... his teeth were HORRIBLE!!!! I could not even focus on the content of what he was saying half the time because his teeth were black and brown and I kept praying that he wouldn't spray on me. My son told me the same thing that he was frightened by his mouth! My point is, if your mouth is so bad that I can't concentrate on what you are saying, and you are catering to Americans who are not used to seeing teeth like that, you will find many who will be offended and grossed out . 4. We had lunch and the restaurant was like a country inn and the food was good. However, the waiter tried to stiff us. I was waiting for my change (which I was going to give to him as a tip anyway), and he never came back with my change. Then when we confronted him, he changed the price to a higher price. Dishonest and we told Khalid, but it did not leave us with a good feeling for the guy to try to cheat us. Overall, we had a great time and I wish there weren't all these tiny issues, but for the price that we paid, I believe everything should have been seamless. So overall, we had a great time, Ragab was responsive and corrected what he could and Luxor was AMAZING!
