Our guide for this tour was very good. She knew a lot of facts and historic information about Chengdu and about the Panda facility. It was a lot of walking but having the pick up and drop off made a difference. Very enjoyable day, were able to see the panda's in their natural environment and see them from babies to fully grown. As long as you don't want to hold / have a photo with a panda, this tour is the one.
This will go down as one of my favourite days spent in China, which was as much to do with my fantastic guide, Penny, as it was about the experiences. I chose to go to the Leshan Buddha and also to go try some local street food and hot pot. Prior to the tour date, Sam was very thorough in finding out what I was hoping to experience and tailoring my itinerary, including detailing realistic travel times and any additional costs high speed train to Leshan for instance is an additional expense, about 50rmb per person each way. I only did the boat trip at Leshan, would have loved to hike it but realistically that would've left no time for anything else back in Chengdu, it was a really spectacular sight and well worth visiting. Later, Penny showed me around a neighbourhood near one of the big universities, and recommended a number of interesting and delicious street foods before we went to the hot pot restaurant - I was keen to try some really spicy foods, and this is certainly the place for it, but there were many less spicy options available if I'd wanted. Throughout the day, Penny was simply outstanding both as a guide and as someone to spend the day with - it really felt like I was spending the day with a friend who happens to love Chengdu rather than just a typical tour guide. She provided a lot of insight about the places we visited as well as various other attractions in the city, in addition to being an engaging conversationalist and up for many a good laugh. I'd highly recommend this tour, not only because of how fortunate I was to get such a great guide, but because it really represents good value for such a flexible and customisable tour, and the pre-arrangements with Sam will ensure you get to have a well organised day out to suit your own needs.
Marty was an excellent guide he took very good care of me, and patiently taught me a great deal about the culture and history of the region. He picked me up at my hotel, and we traveled by Metro and car to Mt. Quingcheng. He recommended a place to eat when we got to the foot of the mountain, and we enjoyed an authentic meal before hiking up. Along the way, he told me many interesting facts about Taoist beliefs, and took time to explain what we were seeing. I was a little nervous booking a trip in Chengdu from my home in British Columbia, but Sam was extremely professional, and delivered exactly what was promised. He promptly answered all of my emailed questions, and helped arrange a tour that met my schedule and needs. Overall, this was an excellent experience--an adventure, in fact--and I really appreciated the fact that I could tailor the tour to meet my needs for a very reasonable price. I was extremely impressed with my guide, Marty, as well.
A wonderful experience. My tour guide Mars was a delight, she had loads of information and she was very helpful and professional and friendly. The gentleman who co-ordinated and organized it all, Samuel was awesome!! I will have no hesitation in recommending this tour for anyone visiting Chengdu.
Nice tour! We went to Pandas' research base, to Wide and Narrow alley and finally to People's park but you are free to decide what to do with your guide. She was very nice and friendly :- Good option as first approach and if you are not sure of what to see!
This is a great tour for an individuals or couples that are wanting to see the pandas. The pandas are a must and by doing this tour with a local guide you can see the pandas up close and personal. Book ahead to get there before the crowds.
