Get picked up from your Chongqing hotel in the morning, and transfer 5 miles (8 kilometers) aboard an air-conditioned vehicle to the city zoo. Spanning an area of over 110 acres (44 hectares), you’ll spend your visit observing the park’s collection of pandas, birds, fish and other animals.
Leave the zoo and continue to Erling Park, one of the oldest private gardens in all of Chongqing. Walk amidst the garden’s collection of pavilions, lotus ponds, pathways, bridges and more, learning about its history dating back to the Qing Dynasty. After your garden visit, take a break for an included lunch, enjoying some spicy Chongqing-style Hot Pot. Those with “less adventurous” tongues can arrange for a more traditional Chinese meal.
Head to Three Gorges Museum after your midday meal, allowing you an opportunity to learn about the greater Chongqing region and the area along the Yangtze River. Make sure to check out the 1950s-era Ming and Qing Dynasty façade of the People’s Assembly Hall located just across the street. Finish your Chongqing exploration by heading to Jiefangbei Shopping Square, where you can admire the 1940s-era People’s Liberation Monument and then explore the numerous department stores, eateries, interational hotels, office buildings, and entertainment centers that surround the area.
Following your trip to Jiefangbei, you’ll return back to your Chongqing hotel.
