After morning pickup from your downtown Guilin hotel, travel by comfortable, air-conditioned bus to your first stop: Reed Flute Cave.
Situated just outside the city, this vast cave boasts a lake and incredible stalactites and stalagmites, all spectacularly illuminated by multi-colored lights. The surrounding area is famous for its natural reeds that have traditionally been made into flutes — hence the cave's name.
Head inside to view the millennia-old rock formations, created by carbonate deposits through the centuries, and see some of the cave’s rock inscriptions, believed to date to the 8th century.
Next, continue on to Fubo Hill, another Guilin beauty spot. This 698-foot (213-meter) limestone outcrop rears from the banks of the River Li. Learn how its name means ‘wave-subduing hill,’ and see the sculpture-filled caves and pavilions at its base.
Then, travel to Elephant Trunk Hill Park, a scenic area dominated by Guilin’s best-known natural landmark. Standing where the Li meets the River Taohua, this wooded hill resembles an elephant drinking from the river from its trunk. Hear legends about the hill, take photos, and admire the temples and caves that stand on its walls and around its base.
Lastly, drive back your hotel, where your tour concludes.
