Receive a morning pickup from your Guilin-area hotel and meet your guide, after which you’ll transfer to the Guilin Zoo to observe the feeding habits of the park’s resident Giant pandas. The early hours of the day are the best chance to see these sleepy creatures while active.
Leaving the zoo behind, travel by air-conditioned car to the Reed Flute Caves 3 miles (5 kilometers) outside the city center. You’ll spend one hour wandering along a path that cuts through the cave, observing the collections of rock formations like pillars, colored lights, stalagmites, and stalactites.
After your trip to the caves, proceed to Mt. Yao, where you’ll board a cable car for an included ride along the 4,593-foot (1,400-meter) span. Depending on the season you’ll likely observe blossoming Azalea trees in the spring or fiery-red maples in the fall. Enjoy the views from the top and check out several historic monuments including the Yao Emperor Temple. Leave the mountaintop and proceed back to the base on the cable car, or choose to return on foot on the .6-mile (1-kilometer) foot path passing through local forests and a scenic stream.
Back in Guilin, you’ll visit the South China Pearl Museum, offering a chance to learn about the region’s longstanding connection to the pearl industry. Then head to Riyue Shuangta Cultural Park, where you can explore this green space’s collection of pagodas, lakes, gardens, and historic bridges. The Sun and Moon Pagodas in the middle of the lake are worth a special visit. After your trip to the park, you’ll receive a ride back to your Guilin hotel.
