  • Cruise on UNESCO-listed Halong Bay, round-trip from Hanoi
  • Visit Thien Cung Cave and ride a boat to a fishing village
  • Seafood or vegetarian lunch on board
  • Upgrade for a private tour and transport
Begin your day trip to Halong Bay with hotel pickup in Hanoi's Old Quarter. Travel past water buffalo and farmers working in the rice fields of the Red River Delta during a 2-hour drive by coach or private vehicle — depending on option selected at booking. You'll make a brief stop at a handicrafts center before arriving at the Halong wharf around midday.

Here, board a traditional wooden junk and cruise into the World Heritage–listed bay, peppered with limestone karsts and the sheer cliffs of countless islets. Your guide will point out landmarks such as Stone Dogs Island, Duck Island, Finger Island, Incense Burner Island, and Fighting Cocks Island.

After a seafood lunch (vegetarian option is available), set out to explore the chambers of Thien Cung Cave, translated as Heavenly Palace and adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. Following a 40-minute kayak or bamboo boat ride around a fishing village, you'll head back to the wharf for the return transfer to your hotel in Hanoi.

Very pleasant tour.
Ha Long Bay is amazing! The tour around the area in the large boat was great. The food was OK. And the tour in the small boat for some it was kayaking around the limestone caves was nice. We stopped half way at a souvenir shop for coffee/rest room break. On our way back too we stopped at the same shop. The drive both way was nice. The tour guide was good and knowledgeable.

Day Trip from Hanoi - Well Worth It
We booked a one-day trip to Ha Long Bay just 3 days before we arrived Hanoi. We read of mixed reviews about the experience and learned that you can book a one-day trip if you do not have much time for Halong bay.
We had a very good experience and would recommend it.
We were picked up at our hotel around 7:45 a.m. After touring the city while picking up other guests, we left Hanoi around 8:30. After 1 1/2 hours on the road half way we stopped for a restroom break at a touristy souvenir shop. Then 1 1/2 hours more to Ha Long Bay. We 20 of us boarded a large boat for lunch, which was quite good. Then kayaking for 40 minutes, a hike to a cave, tour of the Bay and back to port. The ride home was the same three hours with a midway stop at a different souvenir shop. Back to the hotel around 8 p.m. A long day, but worth the journey. Lots of tourists there, but it is a beautiful place and worthy of its World Heritage Site designation.
