This sightseeing tour of the Grand Canyon begins with a hotel pickup in Las Vegas. Make the trek east in an air-conditioned, luxury motor coach, passing through the Mojave Desert and the Black Mountains and Grand Wash Cliffs of Arizona on the way. Arrive at the Grand Canyon National Geographic Visitor Center for lunch and souvenir shopping, then proceed to Grand Canyon National Park for several hours of exploring at the South Rim. Make scenic stops at Bright Angel Lodge, one of the original hotel destinations at the Grand Canyon South Rim and Mather Point, with the most popular overlook and trails lining the edge of the canyon. See the widest and deepest point of the Grand Canyon at over 8,400 feet deep and 21 miles across. Upgrade to include the most-watched movie in IMAX history, Grand Canyon Discovery and Adventure, and/or a guided 2-hour Jeep tour along the rim, complete with stunning views and an education on the canyon’s history, geology and wildlife. Another option would be to take a 25-minute helicopter flight over the South Rim of the canyon (this replaces the visit to Mather Point).

Firstly I would like to say we were picked up from our hotel on time. After that the day went steadily downhill. We were transported to Gray Line head office where we waited for 40 minutes with no seats before finally boarding our bus. We then waited on the bus for another 50 minutes before finally setting off. As we passed the Hoover Dam the driver told everyone it was going to be a “night tour” of the Hoover Dam later in the trip. The first rest stop was McDonald’s and this was perfectly adequate although it was so busy due to Gray Line coaches that we were late to depart. This in turn made us late at the lunch stop. Lunch was supposed to be 12.30 - 14.00. We had booked the IMAX film which was held for us. It finally started at 12.50, the film lasted for 30 minutes and by the time we joined the back of the lunch queue it meant me and my wife only had 15minutes to actually eat our lunch and get back on the coach on time. We ended up leaving most of our food. We rejoined the bus on time only to wait 25 minutes for late arrivals to board. This meant we were late at the canyon, the “2” hours we paid for became 1hr 20mins. On the way home we were informed by our driver that we would be changing crews as he needed his required break. Then he informed us the crew to take over were 1hr 30mins delayed. At this point he said he was going to drive us all the way through to our hotels. We did not get to do the Hoover Dam Tour as he just drove straight past.
We finally got back into Vegas at 22.10 to a parking lot 1 mile from our hotel. We were then separated into two further buses to take us back to our hotels. Finally at 23.00 and no sign of getting anywhere near our hotel me and my wife got off the bus and walked back. The lack of care and consideration by Gray Line is shocking. To allow the support crew to be late and there driver do 600 miles in a day is frankly dangerous. This was The Worst Trip. Do not book!!
My family really enjoyed the tour. The bus driver was awesome and really patient with everyone, treating us like his family! We would only recommend two changes: 1) We enjoyed watching movies during the trip, but one of them was not child friendly (Meet the Fockers). All of the movies don't need to be animation, but the language and content should be considered. 2) We purchased the Grand Canyon IMAX movie option. This movie wasn't worth the cost at all. It wasn't informative about the origins of the canyon and is something that could have been shown for free on the bus just prior to our arrival at the park instead of showing it during precious time that could have been used at the park.
Very long day but was worth it. Would have liked some seats in the waiting area prior to getting on bus. Bus was comfortable enough and bus driver pleasant. Reasonable lunch included with a good variety of choice, should be something for everyone. We did the optional Hummer which was the highlight of the day. We had about 5 or 6 stops round the Canyon as opposed to 2 if you do only the bus tour. Kelly the Hummer driver was very informative and pointed out things you would never have seen. Would recommend but with an optional extra, think it would be an extremely long day doing only the bus tour.
The driver/tour guide was helpful and experienced. The trip was smooth and enjoyable. The only thing was 1 hour time difference between Las Vegas and Grand Canyon time that was not pointed by tour operators and caused delay and confusion at the end and caused 2 visitors came back to the bus 45 mins late. This caused us to came back to Vegas 45 mins later than we could. At the end of a long day, it was frustrating to just sit and wait for 2 people who just didnt paid attention to the time difference for 45 mins. Also, the lunch was not fully optional as we asked for a vegeterian pizza and it was not available and we had to pick a plain cheese pizza. Also the line up for lunch was very long and there was no alternative available except staying in that line.
Awesome visit at south rim of Grand Canyon. The tour operator was gray lines and they had ensured every aspect of the tour right from hotel pickup, details of the tour and upgrades options. Bus driver was an experienced driver and it was good to hear the history of the places that we were passing by. He also clearly instructed us do’s and don’t and have suggestions on the best canyon views. Awresone experience.
Confirmed the day before...awoken at 5 to reconfirm 615 pickup..called at 645 because not picked up..offered to wave reschedule fee.for the next day...party of 2 meeting party of 6...we taxied for 22$...made it to meet friends...very upset...Jeep tour was great....Stop on return trip was gross and disgusting...and No Hoover Dam
We were a family of three adults (different ages) and have to say that we all agree that this was by far the best choice we made for our trip to las vegas.we chose the option of a tour with Buck Wild hummer tours. the vehicle was an open hummer and it allowed us to see the most magnificent scenery that is the Grand Canyon. the stops our tour took us to provided some of the most beautiful viewsWe were very fortunate to have a guide, Jerry, that made the trip both interesting and fun !!!As an added bonus, he is a Native American, part of the Navajo tribe, and you could tell how proud he was of both his heritage and his home.this was by far one of the best days we spent in las vegas and the day went by way too quickly !!!!Wish we could have spent more time at the canyon ……...
