Meet a driver at your centrally-located Riga hotel, then begin the 44-mile trip to (70-km) Bauska, a historic town between the Rivers Mūsa and Mēmele. The first stop of the day is Bauska Castle, where you’ll tour 15th-century ruins, then see the newer parts of the castle, whose restored, 16th-century rooms house historic exhibits.
Following your time at Bauska Castle, continue to Rundale Palace, a baroque and rococo masterpiece surrounded by sprawling grounds and manicured gardens. Visit some of the castle’s 138 rooms, then take in the French-style garden and onsite history museum.
As you explore, the guide will share stories about the palace history and the Latvian royals, adding life and detail to the grand-scale architecture. This full-day palace tour concludes with the return trip to Riga, and drop-off at your hotel.
