What a lovely show at a grand theater
in the Chiado section of Lisbon. It was a 50 minute show-enough for a flavor of their famous singing and lovely music- its a nice way to support the arts in any country.
Comfy seats. Good talent and the guitar musicians were masters. Nice to see it one evening while in Lisbon.
We had a lovely time the program was about 50 minutes, which was just enough for the enjoyment. Although we didnt speak Portuguese we could feel the mood in the music. I love especially when the performers try to engage the audience. I think the performance can be improved with brief description of each song in English and if they were to engage the audience, have the lyrics/words ready in PowerPoint to display on the screen for audience to follow.
Disappointing, just disappointing.
Not worth the money for an hour show that doesn't really get to the heart of what Fado is. Fado is meant to parlay the longing and feeling of loss, sadness, depression for someone or something. The crowd doesn't need to be led for a singalong or a clap-along, something that I feel goes against the essence of Fado.
There are plenty of better options, give this a miss if you can.
My friend and I were skeptical about a Fado show but we really wanted to explore the culture of Lisbon. We were so pleasantly surprised by the end of the show. It was a great show and wonderful experience.
