My husband and I were lucky to take that tour with Andre, who is an excellent guide: intelligent and charismatic. We admired the Holy Mass in Fatima it was Sunday and fell in love with Coimbra. We've learned a lot about history of Portugal/ Small group, minivan and a delicious lunch contributed to the success of the tour.
We had an amaizing trip with Pedro, Miguel and Daniel. They were very knowledgeable. The trip was moulded to our main interests, we were extremely lucky to be the only tourists with our 3 guides due to it being off season but they were friendly and showed interest. We had a great day with them and me and my husband loved our lunch in Coimbra.
If you are a Catholic, then visiting Fatima, the place where the children prayed, and where they lived are very emotional and worth the trip. Although it was awesome to be able to attend mass, it was a bit rushed, by that I mean, there was no time to see anything else if you attend mass, which was important to me. Coimbra is a nice city, but a bit run down. The tour didn't allow for time to visit the famous library at the university, but I knew that. The food for lunch was good. Andre, our tour guide was kind, patient and very helpful, specially to a lady who had difficulty walking. The tour left and arrived on time. I would recommend it.
The trip was the best experience I had in Portugal - well worth it. Pedro was a most perfect guide. Highly skilled in several languages, well educated, outspoken, helpful and competent. I could not have better spent that day! The included lunch was of great quality, tickets to university attractions were even included, and everything went perfect. Thank you Pedro!
We booked this tour BECAUSE it said we would be at Fatima in time for Mass. I even expressed how important that was to me after completing the 800KM walk on the Camino de Santiago. It did not happen and for no reason except it was not really the plan. The rest of the tour was literally a 'drive-by' walking tour of Coimbra. Churches, the University, Monastery all on the tour but not included in the price OR the time alotted! Very disappointed! If all you want is a fly by on Fatima and Coimbra, GREAT!
Excellent guide and overall a good and interesting tour. I have my doubts about the Fatima/Coimbra combination - our small group divided between those who were interested mainly in Fatima and some hardly or not at all in Coimbra and those who would have preferred more free time in Coimbra with the opportunity to visit some of the sights rather than just walk past them.
This was a wonderful tour! We were picked up from our hotel in Porto and went to Fatima first. On our way to Fatima, Claudia gave us information on Portugal's history, Fatima's history, what to expect weather-wise, and pointed out all the storks that were nesting near the highway.
We picked a perfect date to visit Fatima on the 12th of May it wasn't crowded and there were very few lines.
On the way back to Porto, we stopped and visited Coimbra. It is a very nice city, lots to see and a lot of history here.
The only complaint of the entire tour is not enough time at each of these locations! We would have been happy to have left earlier left hotel at 0830 and returned later returned about 1730 in order to have spent more time at each of these beautiful locations.
