Make your own way to the tourist office in central Amboise to meet your guide and small group of no more than 8 people in time for a 1.30pm departure. Traveling by air-conditioned minivan, set out on the 1-hour journey to Chinon and soak up the scenery as you wind through the rolling countryside and lush vineyards of the Loire Valley.
On arrival in Chinon, head to a local winery to take part in a 45-minute wine-tasting workshop and enjoy a comprehensive introduction to the wines of the Loire Valley. Take a tour of the family-run wine estate as you learn about the winemaking process and the importance of ‘terroir’, then master the art of wine tasting as you sample a range of red and white wines from different Loire Valley appellations.
Continue into Chinon for a walking tour of the town and admire the striking half-timbered houses, cobblestone lanes, and elegant mansions that lie in the shadows of the magnificent Chinon Castle.
Before heading back, visit an underground wine cave beneath Chinon Castle to enjoy a traditional French aperitif of Chinon wine, accompanied by fresh bread and regional cheeses.
Return to Amboise at around 7.30pm, where your tour ends back at the tourist office.
