Viator provided an incorrect telephone number for Ando Travel the local operator - this obliged me to call a help desk, wait for them to get back to me and then confirm details with the local operator. I was told by the owner of the incorrect number that they had received numerous messages from other travelers.
Once on the trip, the driver was fantastic, knowledgeable and went out of his way to be helpful and to point out all the things of interest along the way. He also seemed to be the only driver to recommend buying frozen water before you go into the desert - people asked us where we had got it from and wished they had been given the same assistance as we had from Mohamed! The hotel was really lousy though - broken shower, tiny room for 2 adults 1 child, broken taps on the basin and a rickety closet that was too dangerous to touch, let alone use for clothing! We disliked the restaurant stops which were real tourist traps that we were herded into even when we were paying for lunch and we had supposedly booked a private tour. The desert trip was really great but again, we had the impression that we were herded with other tourists and it would have been more enjoyable in a smaller group. Another tip if you do this trip in August is to take basic swimwear to sleep in - the temperatures stay very high at night and we didn't get the opportunity to take a shower for 2 days. Since there is a pool at the hotel where you have breakfast, just wear swimwear and jump in when you get there!
