Travel from Marrakech to Essaouira on a full-day, guided excursion to the historic seaside city. Walk along the weathered skala, where heavy cannons are trained on Mogador island, and explore the atmospheric medina. Discover Berber costumes, traditional weapons and instruments alongside richly woven carpets in the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah Museum, and visit the Mellah, a neighborhood that once housed a thriving Jewish community. Slip into a bustling local market to shop for jewelry and handicrafts, then bask away the afternoon on Essaouira’s broad, sandy beaches.
This is mostly a shopping trip. You spend a few minutes of your tour in the port area and then the rest is in the medina or shops en route. You are not taken into the interiors of any of the buildings either other than the towers and walls near the port and a couple of shops that the guide chooses for you. There is an entry fee for the towers which is not much but is not mentioned in the description.
