Overview

Explore Marrakech’s vibrant souks and get your bearings in its old medinas on this 3.5-hour tour, led by a knowledgeable guide.  Delve into the maze-like lanes of stalls and workshops; peruse the myriad of wares and bag bargains with haggling tips from your guide. Watch the whirl of vendors, musicians, acrobats and street artists in Djemaa El Fna square; stop to admire the Medersa ben Youssef, one of old Marrakech’s most exquisite buildings; and finish at a herbalist shop to discover some favorite local herbal remedies, oils and concoctions.
  • Tour of souks and the Medina in Marrakech
  • Browse for local goods in the souks (markets)
  • Watch snake charmers and other entertainment in Djemaa El Fna Square
  • Visit an herbalist to learn about plants used in Moroccan medicine
  • See Medersa ben Youssef, a former Islamic college
  • Round-trip hotel transportation included
After pickup from your central Marrakech hotel, travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the start point of your tour in old Marrakech. Along the way, hear about the souks crammed into Marrakech’s medina, and listen as your guide gives you a taster of the wares sold at their stalls and workshops.
On arrival, dive into the souks on foot with your knowledgeable guide leading the way. Meander through the bustling lanes, passing stands peddling fresh foods, spices, hand-painted ceramics, leather, rugs and other goodies.
Peruse the wares, and with tips from your guide, polish your haggling skills to secure the best bargains. Your guide will show you the way around the best souks, point out interesting stalls and give you pointers about the products for sale.
Next, spill out into Djemaa El-Fna, Marrakech’s central square. Wander around the stalls and drink in the vibrant street theater played out before you by the acrobats, snake charmers, musicians and other artistes.
Break from your retail roving with a visit to Medersa ben Youssef, a nearby medieval Islamic college whose roots go back to the 14th century.
Admire the richly decorated buildings and courtyard as you hear about the college's history, and then finish at a nearby traditional herbalist shop.
View the shelves of rainbow-colored oils and concoctions; watch a presentation on the plants used in the remedies; and perhaps sample and buy some of the wares as mementos.
Your 3.5-hour tour then ends with a hotel drop-off.

Wasn't really worth it to me - could've walked around myself with wikipedia on my phone

Disappointed felt we were rushed through the souk to be taken to one shop where we had 30 minutes to shop. No one wanted or bought anything and asked to leave after 10 minutes. Later we had 45 minutes and we all went back into soul alone to buy what we wanted.not recommended

This tour allows you to experience the behind the scenes of the Medina. Well worth doing!

Our guide was on-time and took us to some parts of the Souks we would not have been able to access on our own. But our afternoon tour was a part of another's group's whole day tour so it was disjointed on who had access to what. Overall, our guide was confusing, unhelpful and a bit confrontational.

I wish we had more time and freedom to explore the different souks and not rushed to shop in the only place that paid a commission to our guide. But after all it was worth it...safe and time was well managed. I was satisfied with the cooperative souk items and the guide bargained for me.

The group was to big, the guide didn't speak english very well, and it was a very hurried tour. We spent most of our time at a shop for aragan oil and spices, which none of us were interested in we had paid for a tour of the Medina and Souks, which we felt we got a very mini and extremly quick version of.

A good way to get an overview of the souks. Better to do this as the first thing when you arrive. I would recommend it.
