What To Expect

Your day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle starts with the train or bus journey from Munich through the German countryside. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.

Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.

Your tour ends with the ride back to Munich. Offering great views, the trains are clean, comfortable, and equipped with washrooms. You may walk around to talk with your fellow travelers and your guide, who can answer any questions you may have about Munich and Bavaria.

Wonderful trip. I highly recommend it
MARIADELROSAR_R, Dec. 2021
Our tour guide Paul was just excellent. He's very well knowledge about the castle, history, description of what we were going to see and very fun. He was very friendly and we loved listening singing The only bad experience but didn't depend on our guide is that the castle entrance lady denied the access to my daughter, not understanding that J&J Covid vaccine is only one dose and she had a booster after with Moderna, that was very bad
Response from Host, Jan. 2022
We are so glad to hear that you had such a wonderful day at the castle Neuschwanstein with your guide Paul. We also apologize for the problems you encountered at the castle regarding the vaccination status of your daughter. It is such a complicated situation now, and it is difficult for operaters and agencies to stay completely up to date on the ever changing rules passed down from the governement. We try our best and appreciate your understanding.
Great Tour of Neuschwanstein Castle with an excellent guide!
Matthew_M, Dec. 2021
We had a wonderful trip! Steve-O was knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful to the entire group! He kept us on-track but we never felt rushed! Our group was small and with winter and Covid in full-swing, the castle was not crowded. As others have mentioned, there is a 40 minute, up-hill walk to the castle but you have the option to take a carriage which will drop you off pretty close to the top. The walk was fine though, we stopped alone the way to get stories from Steve-O to break up the hike! Without a doubt, this was a fantastic tour! We tried to book another tour with the same group while we were there but there was no space available. Would definitely consider them the next time I'm in Munich.
Some fairytales do come alive
Siddhartha_S, Dec. 2021
It was the most memorable day of our Germany trip. The castle itself is out of a fairytale and on top of it we had a great guide. He was knowledgeable about factoids and history of the region and kept the trip interesting. Would 100% recommend this for anyone considering visiting Bavaria.
Magical Christmas in a fairy tale Castle
Raymond_W, Dec. 2021
We travelled from Munich to Fussen with our wonderful and pleasant guide from Radius Tour Stevo. He is warm and friendly and share with us the history of Neuschwanstein Castle and of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Stevo is very knowledgeable and also gave us good tips of what to do and where to go in Munich. The castle was indeed a fairy tale and having Stevo as our guide makes our experience magical in the white snow close to Christmas !!! Regards Raymond W and family.

The tour guide, Kevin was amazing he was very entertaining and I have learned a lot about the history of the castle. Also the castle was so much more amazing in person than in photos.

Nice early winter
George_K, Nov. 2021
The small group arrangement was great, as it allows better access to our guide and not to get lost in big crowds. Catching the train was also good as it has more space for the ride. Great narration and a nice walk upto the castle help me enjoy the history and the overall experience
Response from Host, Jan. 2022
