Start with pickup at your Inle Lake hotel at 8am or 2pm, and transfer to a jetty where you’ll board a boat along the western shore of Inle Lake. The boat will moor by a waterside staircase leading into the Indein temple complex, partially hidden in foliage at the mouth of Indein creek.
See hundreds of small stupas in a peaceful setting that seems lost in time, and follow your guide to a series of beautiful stone carvings and inscriptions. The full history of the stupas is not known, but the oldest are almost 1,000 years old, and they range from crumbling structures to well-preserved, gilded monuments. Follow a covered walkway to Shwe Inn Thein Paya, the site’s main stupa, where you’ll have panoramic views across the lake when the weather is clear.
At the end of your time at the Indein site, begin the return trip along the western shore of Inle Lake, and finish the tour with drop-off at your hotel.
