  • Explore more than 4 acres (1.6 hectares) of lush tropical gardens
  • Learn about the Bahamas native flora and fauna
  • See the National Bird, the Caribbean Flamingo
Make your way to the Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Center, located just a few minutes' drive from downtown Nassau. Your admission ticket is good for opening hours, between 9am and 5pm daily. The center was created by Jamaican horticulturist Hedley Edwards, who later brought the famous Caribbean flamingos from the southern Bahamas as a contrast to the abundant greenery.
Explore the 4 acres (1.6 hectares) of verdant plant life and tropical gardens at your own pace. Take a break on a limestone bench hidden in a secluded corner, cross a footbridge as a kingfisher wades below and snap photos of the informal gardens. Watch the Bahamian ducks and swans paddle around the pond as freshwater turtles sun themselves on the rocks. While walking the Gardens, friendly and informed staff will answer questions while you explore.
Light refreshments are available at the canteen, and there is a gift shop featuring garden- and nature-themed souvenirs.
Your ticket includes admission to the 'Flamingo Experience', occurring at 10:30am, 2pm and 4pm daily and featuring the Bahamas' National Bird, the Caribbean Flamingo.

It was a very quiet, not over-crowded zoo. The staff was extremely friendly to the point that the zookeeper feeding the animals answered many questions for us while we were there. We saw the flamingo show which was great and we participated in the lorikeet feeding.

Get up n close to the flamingos! Watch them “march” in a show (or be selected to go in the arena with them), then hang out with them as they are not penned! We went for our daughter’s 1st bday and it couldn’t have been a more perfect experience!

A great visit if you like flamingos. The zoo is smaller than you would expect, but they are doing some good conservation work there. Watching the flamingo dance and program was great. Feeding the Lorries was a lot of fun as well. If you have the time, it is a quick visit and they can use the money to help their conservation efforts.

Good time! Like the up close experience with the Flamingos!

Small, but very nice little Zoo. The flamingos were running around us. The flamingo show was great, we even had the chance to make photos with the kids and the flamingos. No additional hidden costs for photos etc..

The gardens were close to deserted when we arrived and closed early so we had to leave. I wasn't too upset about it because there really wasn't that much to see. The grounds were also kind of messy. We watched a lackluster flamingo show while we were there. If you are really excited about going to zoos, you might like this, otherwise it can definitely be skipped.

The flamingos were amazing!! We also enjoyed walking through and seeing all of the foliage and the other animals. Definitely worth it and created a good memory!

Peaceful environment but felt that this is more for kids than adults.

Excellent like the experience.... it was nice to see some of tropical birds and animal....

the staff were helpful and dedicated. the gardens still are rebounding from a past hurricane and storms, I assume. I think they try very
hard to make due with the little they have, it not seem too well attended and supported, unfortunately. Nassau in our travels, seemed
depressed economy, although the people we came into contact were very hospitable.
