Get an early start on the day with pickup at your hotel in Playa del Carmen, then travel to the ancient city of Chichen Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A light breakfast of fruit, cookies, and juice will be served during the trip. Upon arrival in the city, begin a guided tour of the Chichen Itza’s most important sites, from the pyramid of Kulkulkan to ball courts, an astronomical observatory, and “La Iglesia,” an ornate temple.

When the tour of Chichen Itza concludes, continue to Ik Kil cenote, a sinkhole in the limestone rock of the Yucatan Peninsula. Descend a staircase past streaming vines, then swim in the fresh water at the bottom of the cavern. Refuel for an afternoon of exploring with lunch at a restaurant by the cenote.

The final stop of the day is at the Coba ruins, once a sprawling city of 50,000 inhabitants covering 31 square miles (80 square kilometers). You’ll see the remnants of sac bé, the white roads that linked buildings and cities at the height of the Maya world, then head to Nohoch Mul pyramid, one of the few Maya pyramids than can still be climbed. After your time at Coba, begin the return trip to Playa del Carmen, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

Great tour, Jorje was awesome

I cannot recommend his enough, yes, it's a long day, but one day out of your vacation/Holiday to see Chichen Itza is well worth it. The tour of Chichen Itza was amazing but warm, there is shade under trees around the perimeter of the site but the main plaza of very open. We were lucky as it was cloudy which made the visit much easier. From there we went to Ik Kil Cenote for a swim and a few jumps off the 'cliff' into the very cool water, needed and enjoyed by all! After the swim came a buffet lunch which wasn't amazing but was good enough and plentiful, drinks had to be paid for but were not expensive, 50 pesos for a 'Sol' cevesa, 40 pesos for an fizzy orange / soda. From there we went to Coba, it's a big site so bicycles are available to hire for 50 pesos, it was great to gently pedal around (or two people can jump on a trike taxi for 125 pesos for 1.5 hours). Climbing the pyramid and looking across the jungle was amazing and my reason for coming to Mexico in the first place, it's a steep climb but the veiw from the top is well worth effort. Our guide was Jorje and our driver was Miguel, both were brilliant. Yes, it's hot. You are in Mexico, what do you expect? If you are considering booking this trip STOP... JUST BOOK IT NOW!
Good trip; difficult to understand tour guide

It was a good trip. We booked the English tour. The tour guide was clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the places we visited, but his English was poor. We could only understand about 30% so felt like we missed out on a lot of the information about the places we visited.
Carmen was great!

The tour was informative, well paced at each site, and fun! If you can, request to have Carmen be your guide, do so. She is funny, caring, and nice. Also, I originally called over the phone to book the trip and that was a pretty easy process, just wanted to confirm they could pick us up at our particular resort. The only confusing thing about this process was figuring out the pick-up time from the resort because you won’t know your exact time the day before based on other individuals that are going with you on the tour.
An absolute must when you're in Cancun...

An absolute must when you're in Cancun. I recommend this tour to anyone. Our tour guide Sergio was such an amazing person and he is so passionate about teaching everyone about the culture and about the history of the ruins. This tour is about 12 hours and you cover so many things and everything is beautiful. It is a long drive time to the places, but just sit back and relax. They will make you laugh as well. They provide plenty of drinks and snacks for the road. I recommend bringing swim geartrunks, snorkel, bathing suit, etc. to Centoe. You will want it for when you go swimming. It is so refreshing after a long day at Chichen Itza and a recharge for the next trip to Coba. If you are staying at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar like we did, they will pick you up from the hotel lobby. I recommend you call Viator and book the tour and verify with them if the tour company can pick you up from the lobby directly from the hotel you are staying at in Playa Del Carmen. They were able to pass that information directly to them at time of reservation and all I had to do was confirm the day before via phone call with the tour company.
This tour is absolutely a must do...

This tour is absolutely a must do when going to Mexico! Our tour guide Marcela was phenomenal at allowing us to do our own thing, but also extremely mindful of where each one of us was. Marcela was super fun, informative, and pretty much knew the answer to all questions! I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary, and couldnt have chosen a better excursion, mostly thanks to our lovely tour guide!
This was a perfect day!

This was a fabulous day and the highlight of everyone’s trip. I was worried it would be too long of an excursion for a teenager with spotty cell service and a 9 yr old but I think everyone in the family thought this was our most outstanding adventure. The timing and our guide Carmen made the day. It was a lot of time in transit, but our guide had such interesting info the car rides felt like nothing. Our time at Chichen Itza was simply amazing. We nearly had the place to ourselves and had time to wander and snap photos with literally no other people in them if you just waited for a others to pass. We didn’t realize how the size of the crowd we were beating until we moved on to the next site and they were pouring into the complex. Lunch was lovely and had good variety. The boys absolutely loved swimming in Cenote and was undoubtedly the highlight of their trip. We rested in van during transport to Coba and after a brief history, were set free to climb to the top. It wasn’t that hard, just watch your step and be very very careful on the way down. My 9 yr old and I both came down on our butts. It was by far the best tour we have ever been on and we would definitely use again!
Best excursion

I would recommend this excursion, it was fun and the guide Sergio was so friendly and knowledgeable. My family learned so much about the Mayas. The driver was friendly and drove safely. I would not miss out on this tour .
Wow. What a disappointment :(

Well. .all i can say is...it was a pretty terrible day. It was our second tour with this company. Me and my husband took exactly the same one in December 2017 and it was AMAZING!! Thats why i purchased it again without hesitation when we decidedto go again with our parents. Not only our bus was late to pick us up,we also spent about 1-1.5 hours changing buses for some reason and looking for gas,cuz apparantly bus was empty (like why aren't u prepared for your work?!) Needless to say we spent almost 3.5h on the road atter that (in December it was 2h or so) and arrived sooo late to chichen itza (lots of people and super hot) and our guide (Marcela i think was her name) gave us an HOUR to literally run around. (Company pride itself for bringin u to first location super early before crowd arrives and it was true for the first time definitely not this) If u never been there I'll tell you one hour is not even close to be enough for such huge place!! We ended up missing almost half of all the places we saw last year. Last time we spent about 1.5h with our AMAZING,fun and knowledgeable guide and had almost an hour later for ourselves (picture time and souvenir shopping)...after that we had again exactly and hour in cenotes (changing clothes, swimming and eating) which is again NOT ENOUGH TIME.we had to swallow our food within last 15 mins. After that agaaain nooo time in Coba (park was closing within 40 mins !!!! of our arrival!! ) We literally were kicked out and didn't even get a chance to see most of the places or take pictures (again last time we had 2 hours there and it was beautiful) On top of that this guide was not really knowledgeable at all ..she didn't know more than half of what our previous guide told us so i ended up telling my mom way more info than our guide could. I just can't believe how different this experience was from the first 5star one!! This was a horrible day of running around and wasted time(late pickup, wasted time looking for gas/changing buses/horrible and poor choice of route) i chose this tour again because it was so fun and well organized and well paced the first time that i thought its perfect to do again, while being 6 months pregnant and wanting to impress our family. But it turned our to be disappointing, tiresome day. So i guess if you wanna play Russian roulette get this tour and see what happens lol i wouldn't recommend or choose this company again, and if u do,i hope you won't get the same guide we had this time. Good luck

This was a great itinerary featuring two amazing ruins and a cool cenote and a solid buffet lunch. Our guide was incredibly friendly and did an excellent job of leading the tour and explaining the ruins. The only real negative is the drive time, but that was known ahead of time.

The trip that I had with Viator was very satisfying for me. The tour guide, Carmen was amazing and she give us so much information about everything that we visited. I booked the tour by searching on Google and I recommend it to everyone. Thank you very much for everything!
