After morning pickup at your hotel in private vehicle, begin your customized tour of the region. Head to the tiny town of Zelazowa Wola to visit the birthplace and childhood home of Frederic Chopin, a lovingly preserved mansion on the Utrata River that still houses many original artifacts from the composer’s early life such as a Playel piano. Visit on a Sunday from May to September to be treated to a live piano concert. In nearby Brochow, stop in at the fortified church where Chopin's parents were married and young Frederick was baptized.
Continue on to the village of Lowicz, best known as the site of Poland’s only triangular market square. Get a glimpse of traditional ways of life while visiting the town’s 17th-century cathedral and browsing a collection of wooden sculptures and folk costumes at the Lowicz Museum. You may even catch sight of locals dressed in traditional attire around town. Midday, stop for lunch at the atmospheric Oberza pod Złotym Prosiakiem restaurant in Nieborów.
Continue your exploration of traditional Masovian culture at the Maurzyce Ethnographic Park, where you can you see buildings, schools, stables, and huts typical of 19th-century construction. Alternatively, you can opt to visit the Radziwills mansion in Nieborów or Arkadia’s lovely historic park (May through September only).
