  • Full-day private trip to west Iceland from Reykjavik
  • Explore Europe’s largest hot springs at Deildartunguhver
  • View the town of Bogarnes and waterfalls of Hraunfoss and Barnafoss
  • Visit Reykholt, birthplace of Iceland’s medieval poet Snorri Sturluson and home to its oldest hot tub
  • Add optional visits (additional cost) to a lava cave and geothermal hot spring baths
  • Price per vehicle, based on maximum of six people
  • Privately guided tour with flexible itinerary and hotel pickup and drop-off included
After booking, talk with your guide about your itinerary, and whether you wish to make optional visits (additional cost) to the Krauma spa at Deildartunguhver or the Vidgelmir lava cave, so these can be booked in advance if required. Your tour is private, so the itinerary can be tailored around you.

Then, enjoy a hotel pickup in the Reyjavik area, and journey to Iceland’s west coast by private vehicle. This scenic region is known for its rocky peninsulas, deep fjords, waterfalls and hot springs, and is beloved by locals for its ancient Viking heritage and links to early Icelandic literature.

Make one of your first stops at Deildartunguhver, Europe’s largest hot springs. Stroll around the steaming pools and learn how they tap into the geothermal activity of the surrounding Reykholtsdalur valley, pumping at Europe’s highest flow rate of 47 gallons (180 liters) per second.

Visit the quaint town of Borgarnes, set on the northern shore of the beautiful Borgarfjordur fjord. Admire the painted houses and surrounding hills, and visit the fairy tale-like Hraunfoss waterfall, a collection of cascades seeping from a lava field.

Continue to the nearby Barnafoss waterfalls, and travel to Reykholt, a historical hamlet famed as the birthplace of Snorri Sturluson, the revered medieval Icelandic poet, scholar and politician.

Learn about Sturluson’s life and Edda, his collection of early Norse mythical tales, and snap photos of what’s considered Iceland’s first hot tub, a stone geothermal pool built by Sturluson himself.

If you've arranged visits with your guide, take time out to relax in the hot spring pools and saunas at Deildartunguhver’s Krauma spa (own expense). Or, head inside the massive Vidgelmir cave, a vision of ice formations, and lava stalactites and stalagmites (own expense).

After your exploring, return to Reykjavik, where your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.
