So disappointed with this tour. I have difficulty climbing stairs so I confirmed several times when booking and prior to the start of the tour that the tour did not include stairs. I was even offered a wheelchair by the tour company. The WhatsApp message I received from the tour company even said "inside there are not any stairs and the tour is a slow walking tour". When we arrived at the tour company office near the Vatican (the tour office was a dingy, cramped office with little seating a block from the Vatican) I again confirmed no stairs, however after we waited in line in the rain for early entrance and passed security I saw stairs so I asked the actual guide about stairs and that is when he said "Madam, there are many of stairs on this tour". I told the guide that I cannot do many stairs and he then found a tour company representative. I knew I could not keep up with the tour guide and did not want to slow down the rest of the tour participants so my companion and I left the tour and returned to the tour company office. A manager for the tour company said I could get a refund and that I should contact Viator. We then returned to our hotel and I contacted Viator by telephone. The customer service rep that I spoke with was understanding and confirmed that I would be issued a refund for the tour. I also inquired about a refund for the taxi fares to/from the hotel and Vatican and was asked to send copies of the taxi receipts to Viator. I took photos of the receipts and emailed to Viator. Within a day or so I received an email from Viator to call and speak with the Compliance Department so they could process the refund for taxi fares.I appreciate Viator's refund of the cost of the tour and taxi fares....but I still did not get to see the Vatican which was supposed to be one of the highlights of my trip to Rome. Prior to arriving in Rome I had carefully read descriptions of Vatican tours to ensure wheelchair accessibility or tours with limited stairs and this tour seemed to be what I was looking for.but instead of touring the Vatican I ended up being very disappointed..
