What To Expect

This San Francisco coastal walking tour begins at the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, which offers one of the best views of San Francisco Bay and the city’s stunning skyline (that is, when Karl the Fog hasn’t rolled into town). Here, meet your guide, who gives you some background on the bridge’s interesting history and points out its notable features.

Once you’ve gotten to know each other, set off on a leisurely hike along the city’s Pacific coastline, strolling a trail along oceanside cliffs that look across to the Marin Headlands and provide incredible sweeping views around every turn.

Soon reach Baker Beach, where you want to have your camera ready for a postcard-worthy shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. Perhaps chat with some fisherman before continuing on to Sea Cliff, an illustrious neighborhood brimming with mansions and of course, more stunning sea views—especially from spots such as Eagle’s Point, a lovely hilltop overlook.

Eventually, work your way down to the Sutro Baths at Land’s End, which have quite an intriguing story. These oceanside ruins are all that remain of the once-grand swimming pool complex built by former San Francisco Mayor Adolph Sutro in 1896. It burned to the ground in 1966.

Golden Gate Bridge

Your San Francisco walking tour starts at the Golden Gate Bridge, where you can stroll out for panoramic views of the bay and city skyline (barring San Francisco's famous fog, of course). Listen as your guide points out notable features and shares the history of this world-renowned bridge, constructed in 1937.

The Golden Gate Bridge is the Star Attraction
Evelyn_B, May 2020
This was an easy walk and a great way to see San Francisco from a different perspective. Molly, our guide, was very good company. We had no trouble returning to our accommodation near Union Square as there is a bus that leaves from a stop very close to the end of the tour. One thing I learnt on this trip is that February is an excellent time to visit San Francisco because there was no fog to spoil the view.

We have lived in the SF Bay Area, for our entire life and had never learned about the early military history of San Francisco. Christian provided a very informative tour, which included several beaches, lovely trails, all ending up at the Cliff House. Christian is a great tour guide and provided great detail about the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. This is a walking tour and not suitable for non-walkers or strollers.

Walking tour offers beautiful sights.Unfortunately, our tour guide was inexperienced and allowed the couple joining our party of 4 to commandeer the tour. A “lesisurely” 4-5 hour walk became a 3 hour power walking tour where we could’nt hear the guide and had to rush to catch up when picture taking.

The walk was amazing! It is not a very difficult walk, the hardest part is walking across the beach! Viktor was a wonderful guide! Very knowledgeable about San Francisco, and very open! I really enjoyed spending a few hours with him. Would recommend this to anyone I know going to SF!

I have visited the Golden Gate bridge in my previous trips but never seen it this way before this walking tour. Please don't miss this, it is an amazing way to know about the surrounding area. The walk itself was very long but it is suitable for all ages as long as you have good walking shoes!!

First of all you need good shoes, take some water and a snack. Also there is only one toilet stop at the beginning and at the end, so make sure you take the chance at the beginning. We had Devin O'Brien as our tour guide. He was very good, very patient and was very knowledgeable about San Francisco. He knew so much about the history, it was very interesting. He was a very passionate resident of San Francisco. The walk for us was perfect, perfect day, perfect walk. And at the end the guide got us a drink at the light house, the perfect end to the walk. Fantastic day. At the end he took us to the 38 bus stop so we could get right back into the city. Everyone was very friendly, very nice relaxing walk. We would never have gone that way if it wasn't for the tour, so we would have missed out.

Great walking tour starting at the Golden Gate Bridge, learned about the batteries, walked along Baker Beach, upscale residential area of homes in the Cliff neighborhood, etc. We had a great weather day - mostly clear and had wonderful views. Very scenic and felt like we were miles away from the big city of SF.

This is beautiful tour independent of the weather! One of the most beautiful walks I have ever taken in my life. If you take this tour, please ask for Victor. He is an amazing tour guide!!! He is extremely knowledgeable about the area! He is also one of the nicest people I have ever met, and his ability to make sure his tour clients feel safe and comfortable is far above and beyond what should be required! He saw to it that I was safe while climbing along some rocks, he waited patiently for me to take about a million photos, and he stopped to eat with me even though he was not hungry - he cared about my well being 100 while we were on the tour. He is a fantastic tour guide and an amazing person!
