Depart from your San Juan hotel in the morning, traveling aboard a 14-passenger minivan on a scenic, 2.5-hour drive through Puerto Rico’s interior toward the island’s southwest coast. Make your first stop in one of the region’s most picturesque fishing villages, offering a chance to explore a slice of local Puerto Rican life, before boarding a ferry for an adventure into the region’s nearby keys (islands).
Float along the shorelines of these real-life deserted islands during an hour-long boat ride. Then, disembark the ferry at one of the keys, and make the most of free time for swimming, snorkeling and relaxing on the beach. Back on shore, continue by minivan to another fishing town, where you'll enjoy an included lunch and have time to explore independently before returning to the mainland.
As the day turns to night, continue to a nearby bioluminescent bay, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience this eerily-beautiful sight during a boat ride beneath the twinkling stars. The area waters are known for the unique glowing creatures that cause the bay to sparkle with light.
Still ‘glowing’ from this incredible experience, you’ll head back to your hotel in San Juan for around 10pm.
The tour involved a 2.5 hrs van ride from and to San Juan, which we were not expecting. The Key Hopping part implied that we will be traveling by boat from an island to the next, which was not the case. Out tour guide dropped us off at Guilligan island with no specific guidance on what to do and we were left to fend for ourselves. We didn't see any interesting fish or sealife when we were snorkeling and it turns out that certain parts of the island had more fish, which our tour guide should have told us if he was around. The trip to the bio bay at night was the highlight and the best part of the trip. The food was quite bad, so I would suggest bringing your own snacks or sandwiches. Overall, I would say skip this tour and go directly for one that has the bio bay trip.
