You might not expect a top shopping destination to be hidden under a bus station, but that's just one of the pleasant surprises you'll find during your guided shopping excursion in Seoul.
Your guide meets you at your hotel and accompanies you on the subway to the the Banpo-dong neighborhood of Seoul’s Seocho-gu district where you disembark at the Express Bus Terminal (aka Gangnam Terminal). The massive facility provides coach service to cities throughout Korea, but below it lies one of the city’s most popular shopping enclaves.
Descend beneath the station to the Gangnam Underground Shopping Arcade, where your guide orients you to the overwhelming number of department stores and small shops that sell all kinds of merchandise. Depending on your interests, your guide recommends places to search for specialty goods, fashion, homewares and more. When you need a break from your shopping spree, you can purchase refreshments or people-watch.
Don't miss Central City — known as a lifestyle complex and especially popular as a hangout for Korean youth. It features a bookstore, music store, high-tech arcade and multiplex theater, along with designer shopping malls like Shinsegae Department Store and Marquis Plaza.
After two hours, return to the metro to continue to your next stop: Samsung D’light (a combination of the words ‘digital’ and ‘light’). Located inside the Samsung Electronics building just steps from the subway, Samsung D’light contains a three-story exhibition space with the latest state-of-the-art digital technology. Have about one hour to tinker at hands-on interactive exhibits in the digital galleries, test Samsung's latest products in the shop and marvel at this temple of high-tech wonders.
At the end of your tour, your guide returns you to your hotel on the subway.
