Meet your guide at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Diocletian’s Palace, right where the center of Split meets the sea to start this exciting 3.5-hour Game of Thrones-themed tour. Hop into your van and head to the mountainside fortress of Klis. During the ride, learn gossip from the HBO show, as well as the history of the places you’ll visit. Speculate with fellow participants about what will happen in future episodes of the show.
Once there, explore the fortress, which acts as the city of Meereen in Season 4. Check out the views of the shimmering Adriatic and stroll around the fortress with your guide.
After 60 minutes at Klis, head back to Diocletian’s Palace for your 90-minute walking tour. The palace, built in the early 4th century for Diocletian’s retirement, was the setting for several scenes in the city of Meereen. Follow in Daenerys’ footsteps as you explore this 1,700-year-old palace, visiting the throne room and other featured locations. Then step into the cellars where the slaves worked with the Unsullied Army and Grey Worm to crush their leaders. Today the palace is a living monument, as residences and shops began moving into the then-ruined palace around the 7th century.
Late in the afternoon, head outside Diocletian’s Palace to finish your Viator Exclusive tour and bid your guide goodbye.

Thanks Christina for a great tour. Not to big, not to long and covered off the highlights of Split. We were asked if we had seen the series before we started and Christina made sure not to spoil it for tourists like me that had not seen anything past season 6! Would have liked a little more of a personal tour of the castle but it was very hot.
Our guide Luka was professional, knowledgeable, and clearly a big Game of Thrones fan. His passion came through and it made for a fantastic experience. I'm so happy I did this tour while in Split. I highly recommend it!
If you do this tour don’t expect plot reminders to help jog the memory of the relevance of scenes from the various series and don’t be tempted to go if you aren’t a fanatic. The history of the area was the best bit of the tour. I might be a little biased. It was also a sweltering hot day and the walk up to Klis fortress requires some fortitude in the heat.
This was so much fun if you’re a GOT fan. Our guide, Vedrana was the best. She would show the site explain the history but then refer it to the actual show. So interesting. She was also great at giving the history of the fortress and palace without just being a fact bore. The people were super nice. I would love to go back. I would definitely recommend this excursion.
My GoT tour with Luka was great! While I could have gone to both of the locations on my own, doing a special GoT tour made a big difference, as Luka had print-outs of all the shots from the show that were filmed in all the locations we visited. He was very knowledgeable about not only Game of Thrones, but the history of Split and Croatia in general and we basically got a 2 for 1 deal. A GoT and a Historical tour in one.
This tour is a MUST-see for any true GOT fan. Kristina has done an extensive amount of research to give the best tour. She brought us to all the great picture-taking spots and reminded us of the scenes that were filmed there. It was helpful to be reminded of scenes from back in season 3&4! Kristina was very smart to think of shady spots to stand while explaining various sights and she alerted us to viewpoints for scenic photos. She answered my silly questions with great patience. So many fun facts were explained and a lot of Croatian history mixed with the behind-the-scenes info about the production of GOT in this area. One of the most fun tours that I have been on! We were a party of two fans and we both enjoyed a great deal. Afterwards she made sure to direct us to our next stop of our day.
