Experience a true Arctic adventure during this 5-hour snowmobile trip with the Sami reindeer herders. This combination outdoor snowmobile journey and cultural immersion with the indigenous people of Scandinavia is to provide a memorable day in Norway’s north.
Depart from Tromso in the morning, meeting up with your snowmobile-driving Sami crew after a 30-minute drive. After suiting up in a warm thermal suit and protective gear, join your Sami driver aboard your snowmobile as they rev their engines and take off for a trip into the Norwegian wilderness. Zoom through past snow-capped mountain peaks as you search for wild reindeer. Depending on the day’s weather and your luck, you may very well come across a herd of these fur-covered Arctic denizens.
If you are lucky enough to encounter a reindeer herd in the wild you’ll join in with the Sami to help feed and tend to these amazing beasts. Even if you don’t manage to come across any reindeer in the wild, you’ll head back to the Sami camp where you will still have the chance to interact with the camp’s own local herd. While visiting the Sami camp you’ll also enjoy a tasty traditional meal, as well as hot coffee and a rousing round of Sami folk songs to help warm you up. Return back to central Tromso in the afternoon, where you’ll conclude your trip.
