Begin with pickup at your accommodations in downtown Vancouver or Richmond, and then travel to the BC Ferries terminal. Enjoy views of the Strait of Georgia, the Salish Sea, and Gulf Islands during the ferry ride to Vancouver Island. Disembark at Swartz Bay, and continue to Butchart Gardens, a National Historic Site of Canada. You’ll have 90 minutes to explore the 55-acre (22-hectare) gardens, where you’ll find winding paths through classic English gardens, Japanese gardens, a formal Italian garden, and Butchart’s aromatic rose garden.
Travel to the city of Victoria, where a guide will give you a short introduction to the historic downtown. Visit the scenic waterfront on your own, browsing shops on Government Street, taking in the Chinatown district, and strolling along the Inner Harbor. Don’t miss the two most imposing buildings on the coast, the elegant Fairmont Empress Hotel, and the British Columbia Parliament Buildings.
Rejoin your group to board the high-speed, passenger-only Victoria Clipper ferry, which makes the crossing to downtown Seattle in three hours. Navigate from the Strait of Juan de Fuca into Puget Sound, watching the ocean scenery from an outside deck or the heated cabin. An on-board cafe has snacks available for purchase, and the clipper has a duty-free shop with last-minute souvenirs.
This trip concludes on the Seattle waterfront in the Belltown neighborhood, close to hotels, restaurants, parks, and attractions.
