Ansel Adams photo class
, Oct 2019
We really enjoyed this tour. But wanted to confirm, this isn’t a hike or a bus tour. It’s a walking tour/class around the area near Yosemite Valley. Our guide, Michael, was great. He was very knowledgeable and patient and helpful in making sure that everyone’s questions were answered, no matter whether beginning photographer or pro, young or old. He helped build an appreciation of the landscape, and we felt like we learned a lot, whether using phone cameras or digital cameras, and that helped increase our interest in taking pictures, which certainly made the rest of the trip more enjoyable in being able to try and capture better photographs. And because it was a walking tour, he was very flexible in catering the tour to the interests of the different parties. Would recommend him and the tour.
I really enjoyed the tour In The Footsteps of Ansel Adams photo class. Tour started promptly with three people along with two guides. Mike Reeves was great and the young lady with him who was in training was also friendly, helpful and had lots of local knowledge having grown up in the park.
Yosemite is amazing and everybody should go here once but allow a couple of days. I had limited time due to having to drive all day the day before as roads were still blocked with snow,
I learnt a lot on the tour, especially some new things about my camera which was great and much appreciated.
I knew the tour included a lot of information about Ansel Adams but at times I thought we covered too much information on Ansel.
We did not get to all the places advertised, maybe because of the different skill levels on the tour or maybe because we were enjoying the scenery.
If anyone has an interest in photography I would recommend this tour or the other one the gallery runs which did not coincide with my days in the park.
Looking forward to converting some of my photos to Black and White eventually.
This was a very good class and helped me get the photos I wanted to record my visit to Yosemite. From the start of the tour Mike's tips and suggestions showed me how any photo can be improved, and also how different settings can change the impact of the image. I was able to implement many of these tips in the rest of my visit and came home with a very pleasing set of memories.
This is an amazing 4 hour class, taught by a specialized-photography Ranger multi-talented who works inside the Ansel Adams Museum. With my 6th grade son, we took this class in preparation for a class speech, as well as being a photography buff. This class was the first time for him to learn about photography styles, old and new film and digital, black and white vs. color, as well as landscape photography styles and information Presented in an adult manner. Thankfully the Ranger did not baby any information down, but elevated my son's education and capabilities An amazing day in Yosemite, fascinating photography and information galore. Rides were taken from location to location, so it really was a lot of photography, information and locations, not mostly hiking which was my worry.
