The Basics

While the Sagrada Familia looms large over Barcelona—it’s visible from many parts of the city—the cathedral should be seen up close and from within to truly be appreciated. Visitors can tour the interior on their own, on a guided tour, or with an audio guide. It’s also possible to take an elevator up one of the towers for sweeping views over the city.

Just about every sightseeing tour in Barcelona includes a stop here, as do hop-on hop-off bus tours, which also stop at Park Güell, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, and Plaça de Catalunya. It’s possible to combine a visit to the Sagrada Familia with a half-day trip to the nearby mountain abbey of Montserrat or the medieval city of Girona.

Informative and quick tour
They emailed me a day before about my pick up time which was 8am, and Alberto our tour guide picked me up at that exact time. He was very informative when we did our walking tour. I would totally recommend this tour if you don’t have much time to see the city.

Priority Access: Best of Barcelona Tour Including Sagrada Familia
Sergio our guide was knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the day with. We explored Barcelona in the pouring rain, from Montjuic to Sagrada Familia and Park Guell as well as La Pedreda and giving us information and stories on so much of the city as we drove past. He and Frederick the driver were great. Would definitely do again and in fact did when another company left us high and dry the next day and Sergio and Travel Catalunya got us on Sergio's tour of that day to Girona!

Just Miguel from 4U was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. He explained much more than I expected and was able to offer tips about seeing the rest of the Sagrada Familia (crypt etc) His English was excellent and his enunciation was clear and easy to hear.

Vicens was a great guide on the walking tour. We didn't realize thought that he would not guide us through the Sagrada Familia. All of us on the tour were disappointed by this.

Skip the Line: Park Guell and La Sagrada Familia Guided Tour
Both tours were fantastic. Our guide, Albeit, was very informative and told the stories with passion and humor. The visual artistic aspects of Park Guell were incredible, but the functional art was amazing. La Sagrada Familia is absolutely breathtaking. The beauty of the colorful stained glass and the realistic depictions of biblical history are beautiful. Our guide provided insights and explanations for Gaudi’s design. It was the highlight of my European journey.

What a great tour of Sagrada Familia. Our guide Roberto was so knowledgeable. He described and showed us all the little details that we would otherwise never know. Got to skip the line too.

Fast Track Sagrada Familia Guided Tour
This fast track Sagrada Familia Tour was a necessity. Skipping the line was convenient and getting to hear about all of the small details in the architecture was essential. Hearing the history/stories behind the different parts of the building was incredible (huge thanks to our guide Raul for that). I hope to come back one day La Sagrada Familia is finished!

When to Get There

The Sagrada Familia is open throughout the year but can be extremely busy in summer, so a skip-the-line ticket is recommended. The facade looks markedly different when illuminated at night than it does during the day, so plan for at least a short visit during both periods. Note that the basilica holds an international mass each Sunday morning in several languages; entrance is free, but space is limited.

Visiting the Sagrada Familia Museum

The basement beneath the passion façade houses a museum covering the temple's construction through drawings, photographs, and plaster models. Entry to the museum is included in basilica admission, and visitors can see the working modeling studio where Gaudi’s restored maquettes are reproduced to aid in the structure’s ongoing construction.
