If you’re based in Cebu City, chances are you’re going to want to explore farther afield, as many of the region’s best beaches and attraction are located beyond the city center. If you’re looking for a fun and easy day trip from Cebu, here are some of the best options.
Island Hopping – up to 12 miles (19 km) away
A trip to Cebu wouldn’t be complete without a day of island-hopping to the smaller islands around Cebu. A motorized boat takes you to excellent snorkeling sites, bird sanctuaries, and secluded beaches. Bask on the white sands of Caohagan and Nalusuan Islands, hike to a historic lighthouse on Sumilon Island, go bird-watching on Olango Island, or snorkel in the waters of Hilutungan Island Marine Sanctuary off Mactan Island.
Danasan Eco Adventure Park – 39 miles (63 km) away
A day at Danasan Eco Adventure Park, situated in the northern portion of Cebu Island, is a day of outdoor adventure. Adrenaline-fueled activities at the park include hiking, horseback riding, waterfall trekking, ziplining, water sports, repelling, ATV touring, or even riding a Skybike high above the ground.
Kawasan – 71 miles (114 km) away
One of Cebu Island’s best thrills comes in the form of canyoneering through Kawasan Canyon. Spend an active day climbing, hiking, swimming, and jumping downstream along the Kanlaob River, or opt for a relaxing day trip to a stunning swimming hole at the base of Kawasan Falls.
Bohol – 102 miles (164 km) away
The island of Bohol, located a short ferry ride south of Cebu, is blessed with abundant natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and remnants of its Spanish colonial heritage. The island’s mysterious Chocolate Hills look like bizarre grass-covered mole hills, and are nearly as famous as the tarsier, or owl monkey—possibly the world’s smallest primate and the inspiration behind Hollywood’s beloved extraterrestrial E.T. Secluded coves and white-sand beaches, along with some of the best scuba diving in the country, round out the offerings on this island.
