Did you know that Denmark’s largest tourist attraction outside of Copenhagen is...Legoland? Sure enough, Legoland Billund, the original Legoland park, has had more than 50 million visitors since it opened in 1968. The park is located next to the original Lego factory, and is the model for all of the Legoland parks that have since been built. Legoland Billund has several different areas to explore, with ‘Miniland’ being the most iconic — probably because it’s made up of millions of Lego bricks. ‘Minland’ is basically the entire world in miniature form: famous buildings, capital cities, small cities lots of other cool places built out of more than 20 million Lego pieces. Smaller children will enjoy playing, exploring, and discovering ‘Duplo Land,’ which is geared especially toward the little guys. ‘Polar Land’ is nature-focused, and you’re likely to get wet at ‘Pirate Land’. The ‘Imagination Zone’ features live sharks, giant crabs, an orchestral water fountain, and a 4D cinema that engages all of your senses with surround sound, two hundred projectors, and smoke machines.
Legoland Billund resort is a veritable vacation in-and-of itself for families. There’s Legoland, Lalandia (a water park), and Givskud Zoo. Different-length passes (for one or multiple days) can be combined with different entries for the various attractions.
