The county is regarded as one of the most beautiful counties in China and the local scenery is the essence of Guilin. It is also the termination of a Li River cruise. The Longsheng Rice Terraces (Dragon's Backbone), also called the Longji Rice Terraces are located in Longsheng County, about 130 kilometres from Guilin. The terraced fields are built along the slope winding from the riverside up to the mountain top, between 600 to 800 metres. The terraced fields were mostly built about 650 years ago.
