"We stayed at the Heliconia Lodge near Iquitos for three days. It was a unique and truly magnificent experience. The tour operators really know how to efficiently schedule the various activities, so on day one I was immediately surprised by how much we were able to get done and still not feel dead-drop tired. Our guide, Freddie, deserves special recognition for his spirit of service and immense knowledge of the region. I could not think of a single time where I had a question that he could not answer. He also made the tour feel very personal, as if we were visiting an old friend. He went out of his way to play his guitar everytime we had a meal and that was truly memorable! Some of the activities included a magical nighttime boat ride in the Amazon, a fun excursion to La Isla La Des Los Monos, a stroll through the Amazon (safe and with boots provided), and a visit to a local village. Obviously, the quality of the lodge and service will not change the fact that you are in the Amazon, so be ready for limited (but in my opinion enough) WiFi time mosquitoes when leaving the lodge. Electricity is also provided most of the day, but with breaks. I did not feel like that affected my experience in a negative way. The boat ride from Iquitos to the lodge is around two hours, but chances are you'll fall asleep for most of the ride. Overall I'm very satisfied with the experience and would definitely recommend it."

"We visited a wildlife reserve and got to hold monkeys and sloths. Panchita the Howler monkey was the best! We also got to swim in the Amazon! How crazy is that!?"

"This was such an amazing 3 day adventure. The Amazon itself is incredible and there is so much to see. The guide we had, Jorge, was so knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. The local community we visited were so friendly and kind towards us tourists. The second day was amazing going to monkey island and seeing the monkeys run free and being playful with the people. The second stop was a rescue place however the few animals that were there are in small cages and I am unsure if they were fed properly, the sloth certainly didn’t have fresh leaves to eat. It was incredible being so close to these animals and that was a highlight for sure. I just wish they were taken care of a bit better by the people keeping them. On the last day we were meant to do piranha fishing but our guide suggested if we wanted to pay a little extra to see the Yanayuaca river and to see some of the ancient trees he would love to take us. We jumped at the opportunity because we wanted to see a little bit more of nature and the animals in the Amazon. On the way we spotted 3 wild sloths in the trees, a coral snake (which was quite scary) and the ancient trees were so indescribably large. It was worth every cent. If I could suggest that this be included in the tour it would be such a treat for everyone!! This tour is great but you scratch the very surface of what the Amazon has to offer. And going deeper into the jungle is a way better experience and you see so much more."

Our guide managed to grab a small crocodile for us to see up close and then put back again in the river.|On the Amazon river tour, we managed to see lots of dolphins too!|We were able to see a sloth up close and a howler monkey too.|An unforgettable experience!"

"Good value for delicious food, jungle activities, and my own thatched-roof cottage. The cottage took some insistence when the manager said they were gone. After saying four times that I paid for the room solely on the basis of the online picture (straw roof, not motel box), they were no longer gone."
