The Basics

A 30-minute ride in one of the 32 glass capsules offers panoramic views, so travelers can spot London highlights such as St Paul's Cathedral and Buckingham Palace from every angle. One rotation takes 30 minutes, with the structure rotating at a fairly slow speed, meaning visitors are free to walk about their capsule and take photos from all sides.

With more than 3.5 million annual visitors, lines for the London Eye's capsules can get quite long. Pre-booking a fast-track ticket is the best way to maximize your time in England's capital. Travelers with a penchant for luxury can opt to sip champagne while they ride. Many tours combine a rotation on the wheel with other popular London activities such as afternoon tea, a Thames River cruise, a hop-on, hop-off bus tour, or a city tour that covers top sites, including the Tower of London and London Dungeon.

Total London Experience + London Eye, Tower of London, St Paul's
Overall a great experience. Great way to see all the important bits of London in one big packed day trip. Only criticism would be that they should work on time management, as it seemed very rushed between stops, and we had minimal time for eating and hydration. Personally, I thought the London eye was overrated, but that did not affect my score here. Overall, just a really fun day to see the signs and explore.

Best of London Including Tower of London, Changing of the Guard, with a Cream Tea or London Eye Upgrade
Frank was an excellent guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He took time to share lots of information with our group as we waited on the long line at the Tower of London and answered questions on a wide variety of topics. He made the excursion really interesting and also took the extra time to see us to the final stop, the London Eye. Thanks to Frank, our tour was a memorable experience.

Total London Experience + London Eye, Tower of London, St Paul's
Our tour guide was excellent. The only complaint would be that we weren’t given any time for lunch. Maybe 20 minutes after the London eye to grab a sandwich before the boat ride would have been nice for the all day tour would have worked. Overall it was great and I would recommend it, worth the money.

London Eye Standard Ticket
This was simply spectacular!! The skyline of London is beautiful and the day was beautiful. The pods were clean. It was easy to get on and off. The only thing that would have made it better was if it was longer. But we all loved it!

London Eye Standard Ticket
Friendly and efficient staff. Arrived early and as it wasn’t too busy we were allowed to take an earlier ‘flight’. Pod was clean and tidy, very smooth movement. We were lucky enough to have decent weather so views were brilliant

Premier Classic London Private Half Day Tour
Wonderful service. Our driver was punctual, the car was clean and the four hour private tour was exactly what we were expecting. Unfortunately it was very rainy, but our driver helped make the most of it.

Our tour guide was great and the bus was very nice and clean as well. A few other guests on our tour brought down the fun of it all, but the tour guide can’t be blamed for that.

Ultimate London Sightseeing Walking Tour
Mike was an amazing tour guide. Ridiculously knowledgeable about the city and its history, while being patient with those on the tour and concerned about our physical safety. The way he told tue stories was interesting and engaging. He was able to answer all of our questions and even stayed with us an extra 30 mins! I would definitely recommend this company and tour, especially with Mike!

Clean buses, mostly on time. There was tons of construction. Includes headphones for the on bus tour and Wi-Fi.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Take a spin on the London Eye at the start of your London vacation to orient yourself and grasp the layout of the capital city's seemingly endless sprawl.

  • On a clear day, it may be possible to spy Windsor Castle on the horizon from one of the capsules.

  • If gray skies threaten rain, nearby indoor activities abound: the SEA LIFE London Aquarium, the BFI IMAX cinema, Madame Tussauds London, and Shrek's Adventure ensure kids and adults stay entertained during a storm.

How to Get There

Located on the south bank of the River Thames. The easiest way to reach it is by tube to Waterloo station, which is serviced by the Jubilee, Northern, Bakerloo, and Waterloo and City lines. From the station, it's a 5- to 10-minute walk. Visitors traveling on the District or Circle line can disembark at Westminster station for a scenic walk across Westminster Bridge. Surrounding the Eye are street performers, food stalls, and fairground attractions in Jubilee Gardens.

Unlucky 13

It's no accident that the London Eye has 32 capsules—each one represents one of the city's 32 boroughs. However, observant visitors will notice that the last capsule is actually No. 33—the creators skipped pod No. 13, deeming it unlucky.
