We can take a short hike inside the park, which is located just 15 km (9.3 miles) from the Chilean border. The first stop is a view point that overlooks Potrerillos Lake. Here we’ll have an incredible panoramic view of the lake and surrounding mountains. As soon as we leave the front range (Precordillera) behind, we’ll come into the immense Uspallata Valley. These mountains are known for a wide range of colors, which come from diverse minerals. The next stop is the famous Inca bridge, a natural bridge full of minerals that was “designed” by nature. Nearby there are natural hot springs and the ruins of the Hotel Puente del Inca, which was destroyed in an avalanche.
