Hillarys Boat Harbour Tours

Hillarys Boat Harbour
Near the Western Australian city of Perth, Hillarys Boat Harbour is a seaside destination popular with locals and travelers alike. Not only a boat transport hub for trips off the coast, it’s also home to Hillarys Yacht Club, the Aquarium of Western Australia, the Sorrento Quay Boardwalk, and a calm, safe cove for ocean swimmers.

The Basics
With plenty to do for visitors of all ages—and various dining, shopping, and nightlife options—Hillarys Boat Harbour is a pleasant spot to spend the day (or evening). Several seasonal activities take place at the harbor, such as stand-up paddleboard lessons and inflatable water rides for kids. Check to see what’s on when you’re there.

Boat tours depart from the area, and adventure-fishing and wildlife-watching cruises sometimes pass through the harbor. You’ll also find some accommodation options, as an alternative to staying in Perth.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Pets aren’t allowed at Hillarys Boat Harbour.
  • Beach wheelchairs are available for rent from the City of Joondalup, but need to be booked in advance.

How to Get There
Hillarys Boat Harbour is in the town of Hillarys, about 14 miles (23 kilometers) northwest of Perth—the drive takes roughly 25 minutes. Or, get there by train and bus from central Perth, which takes around an hour.

When to Get There
Summer (December through February) is a good time to cool off at Hillarys Boat Harbour, as Perth area summers tend to be very hot.

Visit Fremantle
Just west of central Perth, beachside Fremantle is known for its history and Victorian-era architecture, as well as its long-running markets and artistic atmosphere. The neighborhood is also home to the Western Australian Maritime Museum.
Address: Perth, Western Australia, Australia

Perth's Most Famous Beaches

Perth's Most Famous Beaches

star-5
Perth's most popular beaches in one day. Bring your swimming gear and towel, as the temptation may be too great not to dive through a wave. First stop is Cotttesloe Beach, one of Perth's most popular beaches. Our next stop is City Beach, with it's beautiful expanses of white sand and cafes overlooking the sea. Then we go to Scarborough Beach, which is a firm favourite and has been recently redeveloped with stunning new facilities. After that it's Hillarys Boat Harbour and Sorrento Beach. Hillarys is famous for its boardwalk with cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops, as well as having a sheltered beach. Sorrento Beach, another favourite among locals and visitors, is one of the safest Perth beaches, with soft sand and safe swimming conditions. The final destination is Mindarie Marina. Step out onto the boardwalk, by the impressive boats and houses, and explore the great range of dining and drinking venues with a laid-back Mediterranean feel and waterfront views.
