With a well-deserved reputation as the golfing mecca of the Caribbean, Punta Cana is home to the largest concentration of courses in the Dominican Republic. Whether you’re a professional or just an enthusiast, here are some of the best courses and clubs to tee off in this little corner of paradise.
Corales Golf Course
This 18-hole, Tom Fazio–designed course features six holes along the waters of the Caribbean. The challenging final three holes, known as the Devil’s Elbow, include a dramatic forced carry over the Bay of Corales.
La Cana Golf Course
This 27-hole course at the Puntacana Resort & Club features three nines—Tortuga, Hacienda, and Arrecife. Over half the holes enjoy ocean views, and the course was the first in the Caribbean to use paspalum, a type of environmentally friendly grass that can be watered with sea water.
Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay
This 18-hole championship course, designed by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus, offers a par-72 experience suitable for players of all ability levels. The spectacular course makes use of native flora to complement the surrounding Dominican landscape.
Punta Espada Golf Course
This tough par-72 course hugs the natural contours of the Caribbean coast. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, it’s long been considered one of the best courses in the Caribbean and has previously hosted the PGA Champions Tour multiple times.
Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club
This 18-hole, par-72 course designed by P.B. Dye is situated just 20 minutes from the Punta Cana airport, making it a convenient option for those hoping to squeeze in a round pre-flight. This seaside championship course has plenty of challenging features, including hidden pot bunkers, sharp undulations, and several lakes.
