The basics

A soak in the famous Blue Lagoon is a must for visitors to Reykjavik. Booking ahead is required, and there are several options and extras to choose from, including towels, bathrobes, spa treatments, and special face masks. On-site facilities include a hotel, restaurant, café, bar, and spa shop.

Tours are the easiest and most convenient way to experience the lagoon complex, as most include hotel pickup and round-trip transport from Reykjavik. Some even combine a Blue Lagoon visit with other activities such as city sightseeing, a Golden Circle tour, or a whale-watching cruise.

Blue Lagoon Ticket with Optional Transportation
All I can say is ‘wow’!!! The Blue Lagoon didn’t disappoint at all. The experience is not to be missed. The face masks and drinks bars were brilliant fun. The atmosphere was amazing and the changing rooms were beautifully clean and tidy. To top it all off we saw the Northern Lights as we were leaving. Memories to last a lifetime!!

Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon Including Admission & Kerid Volcanic Crater
It was a very long tour but all the stops were well planned and we saw everything on the itinerary and arrived at Blue Lagoon just after the sun set. Overall an excellent tour, clean bus and adequate time at all sights. I would recommend this tour for all first time visitors. The pickup from the bus-stop was easy too!

Meradalir Volcano Hike & Blue Lagoon Tour from Reykjavík - Admission Included
Due to bad weather we couldn't do the hiking on the volcano. Instead, our guide Tony changed the plans and guided us to the lava field near the volcano. It was amazing, walking on fresh lava that was still cooling. Thanks for having that backup idea. Then we moved to the blue lagoon which was nice as well, but very touristic. I much prefered Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik.

Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon Including Admission & Kerid Volcanic Crater
Excellent tour! It was a long day but Addi kept us entertained and made lots of stops along the way. The Blue Lagoon was the highlight but we also enjoyed the National Park, waterfalls, geysers and volcanic crater. All in all it was a great day!

Golden Circle Day Tour Including Blue Lagoon Admission from Reykjavik
Tour was great! From waterfalls to Blue Lagoon, I would highly recommend. The guide and driver were excellent. Guide provided excellent information. Plenty of stops for food and restrooms while providing enough time to thoroughly see the sites. The Geysir experience was awesome! Blue Lagoon is worth it!

Our tour guide, Dennis, was very informative and added a few extra stops not included in the brochure. The scenery was great and the grand finale at the Blue Lagoon was a great way to finish the day.

Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon Including Admission & Kerid Volcanic Crater
Our guide Maria (sp?) was terrific. Great to have a 'local' behind the wheel. Timing on the stops was good, and we had a nice 2 hours in the Blue Lagoon at the end! She also gave us several tips on other tours to take, places to see. Would book again!

Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon Including Admission & Kerid Volcanic Crater
Our guide, Thoray, was very funny and informative. She shared as much about Icelandic culture as she did the sites we visited. The timing for each site was perfect! I didn't feel rushed nor did I feel like I stayed too long at any location. The last stop at the blue lagoon was so relaxing!

When to get there

The healing powers of the Blue Lagoon

The geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon are typically heated to between 98°F and 104°F (37°C and 40°C) and are famous for their high levels of silica, algae, and minerals, which explain the lagoon's cloudy blue appearance. The mineral-rich waters have long been reputed for their healing properties and are reported to help skin conditions including psoriasis and eczema. If you'd like to do more than soak, there is also a sauna, steam room, silica mud masks, and in-water massages.
