Every Spring, between early March and mid April, millions of Herring return to the coastal waters surrounding Sitka to lay their row on the local shorelines. This brings along an abundance of marine wildlife as well as our famed sac roe fishery. This is a prime opportunity to capture nature at its most rugged and visceral moments. Witness stellar sea lions, whales and fishing boats vying for spots within these dense schools of herring. These special permit holders haul large quantities of herring using seine nets.
