Switzerland's love of scenic train journeys is apparent in the St. Moritz province, where two of the country's most acclaimed railroads start up before making their way around the region's natural beauty. See below for your options when it comes to train tours from St. Moritz.
The Glacier Express
This narrow-gauge railway runs the famous 100-year-old route from St. Moritz to Zermatt, taking in vast stretches of woodland scenery before spiraling high into the mountains to a peak of 6,670 feet (2,033 meters). The locomotive chugs over an incredible 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels during the 8-hour journey.
The Bernina Express
Another another iconic rail route, the Bernina Express soars over the spectacular Bernina Pass at 7,000 feet (2,134 meters) and traverses the Alps from Swiss to Italian soil. The UNESCO-listed railway features extraordinary engineering and remains a firm favorite among tourists.
