Fulong Beach Tours

Just a short train journey from the center of Taipei, Fulong Beach provides a tranquil escape from city life, one filled with white sands and clean waters. An addition to its great opportunities for surfers and sun-worshippers, the beach is home to a hiking trail that reveals spectacular views of Taiwan’s Pacific Coast.

The Basics
On the beachfront of Fulong Beach, you’ll find umbrella, surfboard, and boat rentals that allow you to customize your afternoon. If you’re looking to discover Taiwan’s famous coastal countryside, you can hike the 5.3-mile (8.5-kilometer) Caoling Historic Trail, a six-hour route that provides incredible photo opportunities. Cyclists can take one of two bike paths, the Old Caoling Bikewy and the Longmen-Yaniliao Bikeway, after renting some wheels in town.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • This is a must-visit beach for surfers, sun-lovers, cyclists, and hiking enthusiasts.
  • Fulong Beach is wheelchair accessible.
  • Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
  • If you’re thinking of hiking the Caoling Historic Trail, make sure you bring plenty of water and snacks.

How to Get There
From Taipei, catch a direct train to Fulong from Taipei Main Station, which takes around one hour. From Fulong station, the beach is a 10-minute walk.

When to Get There
Summer in Taiwan can reach sweltering temperatures, and the beach can, therefore, become very crowded. If possible, head to Fulong Beach during the week and aim to arrive in the morning, before the midday heat becomes overwhelming.

Ghost Month
Although the Pacific waters that lap Fulong are generally safe for swimming, you won't see any locals in the water in August, when the Taiwanese superstitions of Ghost Month are in full swing.
