Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park
With 720 square miles (1,865 sq km) of lush mountain valleys, mist-shrouded lochs and shady woodland trails, the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park is a natural playground for hikers and wildlife enthusiasts. Located just north of Glasgow, the park makes an obvious choice for a day trip from the city, as well as serving as the gateway to the Scottish Highlands.

The dramatic focal point of the National Park is the glittering Loch Lomond, Britain’s largest lake, around which the Trossachs form a band of forested hilltops and grassy peaks. The best way to explore is on foot and the wide network of hiking trails include the popular West Highland Way, a long distance trail that runs through the heart of the national park, and 20
munros (mountains above 3,000 feet (914 meters)), the highest being Ben More at 3,852 feet (1,174 meters). Other popular activities include sailing and fishing on the park’s many lochs and rivers, and bird watching - golden eagles, ospreys, and peregrine falcons are all common sightings.
