Wat Mahathat, “the temple of the Great Relic” was one of the most important temples in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Ayutthaya and the area around of it

Early start in the morning ... the offered hotel pick-up worked very well. The tour group contains approx. a number of 30-36 people ... travelling in a big coach from one spot to the next one ... for my opinion to much people for one group. Mrs. Donna (our tour guide) did her best to make the tour as comfortable as possible. You can say, Mrs. Donnas charme and knowledge made this tour. 60+ Minutes in Bang Pa (Summer Palace) is a little bit to long (for my opinion), Bang Pa is a huge garden with buildings, flowers and tree architecture. 15-20 Minutes in Wat Mahathat (Buddha's head entwined in tree roots) is definitely to short to enjoy and explore the area ... Wat Mahathat is more worth than 20 minutes! All the other spots during this tour were an add-on and interessting as well (Phraram, Pratu Chai ...). The cruise and lunch on the Chao Phraya River by cruise boat was together with another group - so the tour group contains around more than 50 people ... but the cruise boat was big enough and everyone got a nice comfortable place. All together it was a nice tour only the time in Wat Mahathat was to short.
Ayuttaya just magical!

The highlight of the holiday. A truly fabulous experience. Donna was a 100% absolute gem. Explained everything and kept the group together. The Buffet lunch was unbelievable and worth the cost if the trip on its own! Many many thanks.
Best ever 💕💕

I loved every minute of it, i have got absolutely nothing bad to say it was the best especially our guide Donna her personality and her Worth is everything. Remember if you don't speak Thai don't complain about her English.
Great day trip to Ayutthaya & river cruise.

Comfortable bus ride. Sufficient time to visit each site. Donna, our guide was knowledgeable about the sites histories & helpfull to take our photos. She made a big difference in our enjoyment of the trip. The river cruise was relaxing & the lunch buffet was value for money. Plenty of choices in main courses, desserts & fruits. Since this is Bangkok I was surprised that mangos were not provided. Fruit juices would also be a nice touch.

First off, what is described is not what you will receive. The company that books this, (Tour East Thailand) subcontracts it through another company (River City Tours) and the dinner is through (White Orchid Rover Cruise). As the listing says, you are to be in a group no larger that 15 people. Our group had OVER 50 PEOPLE and a full size bus and one tour guide. We specifically picked this tour for the small group experience and the ability to ask a guide at nearly any time the small detailed questions as being driven around, etc. We confronted our guide Donna, who just told us that we will have to contact our booking company when we are completed as we showed her what our reservation was for and she agreed it did not sound the same but we were on her list correctly. We were not able to ask many questions, nor was anyone else as our guide just sat in the front most of the drive and did not talk much except for when we arrived at a location or just departed. To add to everything, our first stop was the palace. We complied and was wearing everything the listing on the tour states we needed to for the palace dress code policy but when we arrived, we were forced by the guide and the ticketing people into a CASH ONLY souvenir store and told we did not meet the dress code and about half of the tour had to buy either new shirts or pants. We again confronted our guide and showed her the dress code on the tour listing and she again informed us to contact the booking company at the end. It seemed more of a tourist trap than policy as even our shuttle driver to the meeting spot for the tour ensured we had proper clothing before even leaving the hotel with us. We called Viator while in the middle of the tour who started a claim and apologized. They contacted the tour company who said they could not respond without their Manager. Viator said they would follow up later after hearing back. Immediately after the call, I received nasty emails from the Tour Company trying to spin it and saying "nobody promised it was a small group tour" and that it was not their fault we did not comply with their dress code instructions given on the listing. We sent them a screen shot of the listing that showed "max of 15 persons on the tour" and a picture of our group and bus as well as what we were wearing at the beginning of the tour. They did not respond after that. Once we were on the boat, we actually had a nice lunch. But, our tour was merged with two other ACTUAL small group tours from the same company - more than likely the ones we were supposed to be on. So again now our group had over 60 people for the lunch river cruise. The content of the tour was OK, but what really ruined it was it not being what we paid for, having to buy unnecessary clothing in a shady cash only shop, and the poor response and lies from the booking company, TOUR EAST THAILAND. Luckily, Viator investigated and agreed with us and provided a full refund. So if you want to do this tour, I recommend using another company other than TOUR EAST THAILAND and make sure you are paying less than this tour as it is significantly higher than the tours labeled correctly as a larger group experience like you will get with this tour.
A worthwhile tour

Very pleasant tour. An easy pace, knowledgeable guide. A substantial buffet lunch on the boat. Lots to see on the boat ride back to Bangkok.
