Overview

Discover some of the best-kept secrets of Barcelona during this half-day or full-day private tour of the city’s top sights. Get personalized attention from your guide as you skip the lines at the iconic La Sagrada Familia cathedral. Then stroll the atmospheric streets of the city’s Gothic Quarter on a walking tour, stopping to admire a 2,000-year-old Roman temple. You’ll also get to sip cava, Catalonia’s signature sparkling wine, at a local food market, check out modernist architecture in the city’s Eixample district and take in gorgeous views from the hilltop Montjuïc area, among other stops. This private tour also includes round-trip transport from your hotel and optional upgrade to a full-day tour featuring afternoon visits to architect Antoni Gaudí’s La Pedrera and Park Güell.
  • Skip-the-line access to La Sagrada Familia
  • Complimentary cava wine tasting in typical local market
  • Walking private tour of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, including the 2,000-year-old Roman temple
  • Upgrade to the full-day tour to include Park Guell and La Pedrera
See the best that Barcelona has to offer on this private half-day guided excursion covering some of the city’s top highlights (and optional upgrade to a full-day visit). Best of all, this intimate, personalized visit allows you to customize some portions of your visit to cater to your specific interests.

Start your day with pickup from your Barcelona hotel around 8:30am. Depending on your specific itinerary, it may also be possible to adjust your start time once the booking is confirmed. Begin by driving with your guide to the hilltop sanctuary of Montjuïc, a combination park, cultural and recreational area that hosted the 1992 Olympic Games.

Enjoy superlative views of the Barcelona cityscape before making a quick stop at the Catalunya National Art Museum and then heading back down to Plaça Espanya and through Eixample, a neighborhood known for its modernist architecture.

Continue the trip with a drive down Passeig de Gracia, one of the city’s most upscale shopping streets, passing the famous architectural works of Antoni Gaudí, La Pedrera and Casa Batlló, as you go. Soon you’ll arrive at the towering La Sagrada Familia cathedral, where you’ll take advantage of your included skip-the-line admission ticket, heading right inside to view the incredible construction feats inside this one-of-a-kind religious structure.

Proceed next on a walking-based wander through the narrow streets of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. Sip on an included glass of cava (sparkling wine) at one of the district’s local markets, then meander your way back in time, passing the remains of a 2,000-year-old Roman temple and the area’s ancient Jewish Quarter and Royal Palace.

You’ll then head to El Born, a trendy area just adjacent to the Gothic Quarter, where you’ll stop for a short lunch break before visiting the beautiful Santa Maria del Mar church. Those on the half-day tour will end their trip here around 1pm.

For those who select the full-day tour upgrade, you’ll continue in the afternoon with guided visits to two of the magnificent creations of Antoni Gaudí, the hillside Park Güell and the beautiful La Pedrera. See the itinerary below for more details on the full-day and the two tour options.

Itinerary

Upgrade:

Upgrade to the full-day private tour to include visits to two of Antoni Gaudi’s most fabulous sites – Park Güell and La Pedrera. At La Pedrera, you’ll skip the line again and have an hour to explore the interior of the building.

What a treat it was to spend time with Nikolas. We had already seen some things that were scheduled and so he took us to others which we thoroughly enjoyed. He was nonstop full of information of behind the scenes Barcelona. Such a wonderful man to show us a city of which he is rightfully proud.

The six of us had an enjoyable time touring Barcelona. The places we visited were the usual popular attractions. We went on the day of the Catalonia celebration/protest with 1 million people in the streets, so finding parking was challenging. Our guide did well and was knowledgeable and friendly.

It was an expensive way to see the sights, but we felt it was worth it. We had enough time at the different sights to take it in. Our guide was very knowledgable but a bit distant in her presentation.

We arrived in Barcelona only two days after the terrorist attack on Las Ramblas, but both the locals and most of the visitors chose to continue their lives and tours without fear. Our driver/guide for the half-day tour was Felipe, of Explore Catalunya, and he was EXCELLENT. Spoke very good English, was a careful driver, and gave us a driving tour past EIXAMPLE, to MontJuic to overlook the city, the Olympic stadium, and later got us quickly through the crowded La Sagrado Familia line, where we met at the bookstore after our audio tour. Instead of going to La Boqueria, through which the terrorist driver escaped, he took us to the locals' market, Santa Catalina, where we later enjoyed lunch we had been to Las Ramblas and La Boqueria a week earlier. Our walking tour took us through the Gothic Quarter, Jewish Quarter, Cathedral Maria de Mar, El Born, and many other sites that were not originally on our list. Felipe was flexible and stopped at the Palau de la Musica Catalana, which was not on the tour, to check tour times. My wife and daughter-in-law returned there after lunch to see the beautiful glassworks. When we asked about a good place for dinner, Felipe took us to see two different restaurants and got business card from each so we could make the final decision. Our family chose and returned to Tapeo later and the food and service were excellent. At the end of the tour we asked to be dropped off at Santa Catalina instead of the Cathedral Maria de Mar, which Felipe was happy to do, ending a really wonderful and rewarding touring day.

This tour was BY FAR the highlight of our entire trip. Rodrigo was so knowledgeable, friendly and patient with our two children - ages 4 and 11 - and kept the entire family engaged throughout the tour. We were skeptical at first because of the price but it was worth every penny. Highly recommend!!
