Located in Budapest’s City Park, the Széchenyi Baths were built in 1913 and completed in 1927. Locals and visitors alike come to enjoy the city’s largest and warmest thermal spa, with a plethora of indoor and outdoor pools, including spring-fed baths.

Under the stunning interior domes, make your way from pools to saunas and steam rooms at your own pace. The temperature varies for each of the 18 pools, with the large outdoor swimming pool at a temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) or the steaming pool at 106 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius), a fine place to sit back and treat your muscles. You must visit if you are in Budapest!

Fantastic place to visit. I would definitely recommend a trip here if you are visiting Budapest. A fantastic set up with the cabins to store your belongings, where you just scan a watch you're given to lock and unlock it. 18 different pools to go in, but the two outdoor ones are great, in a wonderful setting and like getting into a lovely hot bath. Thoroughly enjoyed the day there. Paid the extra charge for a great massage too.

Thank you, glad to hear you had a good time!
    A very relaxing experience

For English people, booking a changing cabin is a must. I only wish every pool had this option. We were blessed with good weather, which certainly made the experience a superb one. Maybe avoid the weekend as it’s very busy. There needs to be a clearer explanation that swimming caps are needed for the swimming pool only, not the spa/leisure pools.
    Definitely worth a visit
    Paul_W, Oct 2022
We had a very good experience, however we feel it wasn’t very well signposted on our approach and unfortunately on the day one of the two outside pools was closed for repairs. Thankfully we had good weather considering it was the first week of October. It was a good experience, the staff were very helpful and we would recommend a visit for anyone going to Budapest.
    Fun in the warm waters

    It is a must

There isn't any guide or visitor of Budapest that will not recommend these baths. But we believe that we found the most enjoyable way for these baths. There are indoor and outdoor pools. We firstly went to the indoor pool. The temperature of the water there was 28°. Then we went to to the first outdoor with the spinner the temperature of the water there was 32°. Then we visited the the last pool with a astonishing 38° temperature. Finally we went to the sauna and we melted

    Beautiful place for Pools
    Karisa_D, Jul 2022
Lots of different pools with many thermal temperatures give you a unique experience. Try each one is what we did. Make sure to get the cabin so you can change your clothes in private and put your clothes in a private location. You should visit this facility while you are in Budapest.
    Easy peasy

Prepaying the entrance fee via the Viator app made life a lot easier than reading the menu at the cashier booth of the Spa. We just handed the paperwork to the receptionist and she gave to wristbands. We highly recommend getting a cabin to change and store your belongings, unless you like getting naked in front of bunch of strangers in the locker room. The Spa was amazing, even though was pretty crowded on the day of our visit. The many thermal baths was quite a unique experience. I highly recommend you visit to this facility while you are in Budapest.

I want to give it 5 but when you do people will then be over judgemental. The spa was great especially in 30 c heat. Outdoor pools with streams of water pouring on you to cool you down and loads of indoor pools at various temperatures. A great day to unwind and actually fine in winter as heated. The palinka tour was intersting a unique drink to hungary the museum though small is intersting the staff and tour guide were very freindly and for a beutifal setting the drinks at the bar were cheap. Both fully worth doing especially the spa for me i was solo but made lots of conversations with others
    Great place to relax

Great place to visit especially on a day we visited were we had high temperatures, we quickly sampled the indoor pools which were not as busy as the main outdoor pools but the indoor pools did have a odd smell sometimes off putting. Main pools we’re great but get there early to get a seat, arrive before 9am or as soon as they open

    Budapest Bath and Palinka
    Gretchen_L, Apr 2022
We really enjoyed our Budapest Bath experience. It was fun to try out the pools with different temperatures and in different orders. A nice change of pace on our vacation. For the Bath, check-in was not at Cashier 5 but Cashier 3 - and then we had to go to Cashier 1 to pick up the towel we purchased. For the Palinka Experience, the owner/manager was quite nice but would have been nice to know the tours were only offered every 90 minutes.
    Just fantastic

You can’t miss this Budapeste point of interest. I will recommend you to buy a ticket with a cabin. The staff is very nice. Please bring your own slippers and towel. A robe is recommended if you can’t survive a few seconds cold during the winter (since the water temperature is around 38C).

This was one of my to do things while in Budapest. Although it was a little intimidating as I was by myself, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience while at the thermal baths. As I walked in a woman noticed the piece of paper I was holding and showed me where to go. They had my reservation and gave me by bracelet/key. After finding my way downstairs to the locker rooms and renting my towel, my towel disappeared. A Hungarian woman, who spoke no English, tried to help me find it, with no luck. Even though it was a weekday, the baths were crowded as this is a popular tourist attraction. The facility was beautiful and very clean. I spent several hours there just soaking in the scenery and watching the people. I would highly recommend this.

We had no idea what to expect. We were quite surprised that the facility was well able to accommodate the crowds of the day. If you visit Budapest, you must visit the Szechenyi Spa and its many mineral pools. If you follow the flow of of pools and saunas you will be invigorated beyond belief. Plan to spend the day. There are various tourist sites around the spa to visit for sure, but this is the place you want to linger the most. We rode the underground from Pest and it was very easy to do. The kiosk for purchasing train tickets had English available in order to better understand how to purchase tickets. If you can bring your own towel from the hotel. Towel rental is on the expensive side. Also, purchase your spa tickets ahead of your visit as the lines for entry can be quite long. Enjoy the health benefits of 2000 year old mineral springs! This was truly one of the best experiences of my stay in Budapest. The building itself is magnificent and the numerous indoor and outdoor heated pools was beyond my expectations. A lap pool and two heated pools are located outdoors between two long buildings that contain steam baths, saunas, lockers, and a restaurant. Be aware that not much English is spoken so it is hard to get information. We were not given a tour of the facilities so we had to wander around to find the lockers and finally had to get someone to help with locker rooms plastic bracelets are given to you but no one explains that a machine on the wall reads your locker number. Would highly suggest getting the locker room for safety and privacy. Another note...the ticket office would not call us a taxi and we had no phone to call one ourselves so we had to wander around for over an hour before finding one parked about 2-3 blocks to left of back entrance.

This is a great place to visit in Budapest. The metro let you off right in front, so it's very easy to get to. We were able to book a couples massage when we got there. It was great. I would highly recommend this.

If you want to just relax in the hot springs, cure jet lag, and get rid of stress from a long flight, this is the place to be which I did the first day I am in Budapest. I would have gone back again before I left Budapest, but did not have enough time.
